Mother's Day deal: HTC One A9 and One M9 prices slashed
If you don't know what to get for your mom this upcoming Mother's Day, HTC has an idea: buy her an Android smartphone. Starting now, and until May 8, HTC USA is selling the One A9 (in garnet red) and One M9 (in pink) at discounted prices.

If you visit HTC's official website - see the source link at the end of this article - you can get a garnet One A9 unlocked, or on Sprint, for $389 (that's $110 off the regular price), while an unlocked pink One M9 costs $399 ($250 off). Of course, there's now a new and more powerful HTC smartphone in town - the HTC 10 - but this one costs $699, and isn't available in garnet or pink.

Both the HTC One A9 and One M9 are decent smartphones, especially at discounted prices. The A9 is definitely not as powerful as the M9 (since it features a Snapdragon 617 processor, instead of the M9's Snapdragon 810), but it's got an arguably better rear camera, and comes with a fingerprint scanner. You can find out more about the two handsets by checking out our HTC One A9 review and HTC One M9 review.

Show your mom how much you hate her by getting these crappy phones? No thanks HTC. How about launching HTC 10 internationally instead?

I dont think this are crappy phones, A9 has updates like a nexus, besides, they run very smooth, compared to a samsung device of course.

M9: terrible screen, borderline unusable camera, heavy and asymmertical, mediocre battery life and heats up more than my stove. It was the worst HTC ever made. A9: Slow chip, 1080p penTile screen, weird home button with no capacitive ones makes the design look weird, camera is mediocre and it just costs too much for what it offers. Not to mention the fact that both these phones have eMMC based NAND, which significantly cripples the speed. Various speed tests proved that M9 was slower than M8 in most cases. Let me ask you this: What do these phones offer over the Nexus 5X? And please don't get Samsung into context. That's just a testament that you just want flame wars here.

Specific to the A9: Better build, better screen, expandable storage, more RAM, FM radio, Cat 7, better sound through headphones, Quick Charge 3.0... I'm not saying that the A9 *is* better, rather that it is better at some things, the same way the 5x is better at some things.

cat 7 and FM radio are not valid. To even use cat.6 you need to be in S. Korea and no carrier in the world supports cat.7, and almost no one uses FM radio. I didn't know about expandable storage though. About the screen, the nexus 5x has a better screen. 1080p with penTile is pretty bad, and I know since I used to own an S5 back in the day. Not to mention the 5X screen is much better calibrated for sRGB compared to the A9. Sorry, but none of the reasons except the expandable storage are compelling. 5X on the other hand has much more practical advantages and cheaper. It costs less than 300$ for god's sakes.

Okay, if you pick and choose what's important to you, you'll undoubtably end up with what you want. That's fine. For me, the screen on the A9 is considerably better, I love having an FM radio in my device, and expandable storage is a must. Neither is outright *better*. It's just what happens to be better for the individual user.

For the A9: Unless you are an avid gamer, if not, the 617 is not a slow chip. Camera is just fine.

You really can't go wrong with M9 unless you're a camera afficionado, it has snappy performance and great audio.
