Microsoft offering free Touch or Type Cover with purchase of Surface RT in the US and Canada

In addition to the hard hitting commercials that Microsoft has been introducing against Apple recently, the company is now offering a free Type Cover or Touch Cover (including limited edition Touch Covers) with the purchase of a Surface RT tablet.

We know the Surface has not been sharing much of the lime-light in terms of sales or mind-share, but there is no denying that the Surface is a well built tablet.

The Surface does try to bridge the gap between the “Office” features many of us would like to have handy, and efficient programming to operate all day long (or longer). The price was reasonable too compared to other premium built tablets. The Touch Cover and Type Cover were attractive accessories to maintain a svelte profile for the Surface, though their $120-130 price points had a bit of a chilly reception.

However, offering those accessories for free with the purchase of a new Surface adds significant value to the whole package. Paying $499 for a 32GB with a Type Cover? MicroSD expansion? Full browser and key Office applications? Yeah, we know there is no email client like Outlook, but the value is compelling. You should be able to take advantage of this offer from participating retailers, a nearby Microsoft retail location or the Microsoft Store.
