Microsoft Office apps for iPad now allow you to buy monthly Office 365 subscriptions
Making things a little easier for Apple iPad owners using any of the Microsoft Office apps, in-app purchases of Office 365 can now be made on a monthly basis. Previously, iPad users who downloaded Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, had to pay $99.99 for an annual subscription to Office 365 Home. Now, a monthly subscription for 365 Personal and 365 Home can be purchased for $6.99 and $9.99, respectively.

The 365 Personal subscription allows one individual user to start a new document and edit an existing one. The 365 Home subscription allows up to five computers and five tablets in one household, to perform the same tasks using the Microsoft Office apps.

While the apps for Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint for the iPad are free from the App Store, these limit users to viewing and presenting already opened documents. The in-app purchasers of Microsoft Office 365 are necessary for those who expect to do more with the Microsoft Office suite on their Apple iPad.

I don't care about monthly subscription. Give me a one time fee please and then I'll use it. That said, I am really starting to like alternatives like Google Sheets and apples own Pages.

I've tried to like Google sheets but it's missing so much and dont get me started on macros that just aren't there or the stupid advertising at the bottom. I suppose if I were to use it for the most super basic of jobs shee5s would be fine but it's not a real alternative. As far as what apple has I've never used it so I can't comment there.

I hope that Microsoft sells a USB or DVD version of full MS office or MS Office Home and student for the Ipad and android tablets for those who want a one time version. MS office can be bought to run on any Apple desktop/Mack/Imac computer so microsoft should extend that capability to Ipad/Android tablet users. Ipad and android tablet users will buy it even though they know it wont get full upgrades until they buy the next version. in Office 365 versions as long as you pay it gets updated for you to the latest version automatically.
