Microsoft CEO Nadella insults two iPad owners; "Get a real computer," he says

Microsoft CEO Nadella insults two iPad owners;
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella recently took a trip to India where he happened to run into pair of journalists who were both sporting Apple iPad tablets. "You need to get a real computer, my friend," the executive said to one of them. Other Microsoft executives earlier this year said that Apple copied the Surface Pro with the iPad Pro. Ryan Gavin, General Manager of the Surface line, was a bit more specific when he stated that the iPad Pro was the result of Apple copying Microsoft in the 2-in-1 category.

There are those who say that there are many similarities between the two devices. Both employ a touchscreen and can work with a stylus (Surface Pen and the Apple Pencil) and feature detachable QWERTY keyboards. But there is a major difference in the operating systems used by both tablets. The Microsoft Surface Pro runs on Windows 10 Pro, an OS designed for personal computers. The Apple iPad Pro runs on the company's iOS mobile operating system.

Nadella took a jab at Apple when he recently said that Microsoft is not a luxury goods manufacturer. Instead, Microsoft's CEO said that his company is a tool creator, developing technologies that others can use to build with. There is no question which of his rivals Nadella was referring to with that luxury goods comment.

Tell that CEO to take his 4GB RAM in his Surface Pro back to 2007.

4gb ram is just the starting point. You can get that device with up to 16gb. Looking at the choices in hardware configuration I have to ask, does the competition give as much?...

4GB ram was the starting point since 2007. You have to shell out $1,200 for a model with 8GB. My old Windows XP computer from 15 years ago had 4GB RAM. Any “Pro” computer device these days that come with a meager 4GB is laughable. With 4GB these days, you’ll start running off of the pagefile system the moment you run anything other than notepad.

So you're comparing your old 4Gb ram with the Ram used in surface pro? Can you compare their clock speed please? Btw 4Gbs of ram is more than enough to do light tasks. With entry lvl surface pro users can edit photos n videos, use office and play light games. With i5 8gb model which i had for more than a year you can play games like Dota2 and do some heavy editing works n coding. Considering the size, surface pro is a f*** piece of art n that's why everyone's copying it.

"With 4GB these days, you’ll start running off of the pagefile system the moment you run anything other than notepad." Over exaggeration mate! And if your worried about the price, I would suggest to quit comparing to 15 years ago...

I assume you must have an Apple product as they are RAM hogs, Win10 is a LOT leaner than 8 or 8.1 or 7 or.. etc.. etc.. etc.. IF you only use 3GB, 16GB of RAM isnt going to help.

iOS has an extremely optimized ram system. I would really consider challenging a surface pro 16gb vs an ipad pro 4gb. iOS is EXTREMELY advanced in ram management.

Tell Apple to beat Microsoft's base RAM amount first. (2/3GB for the win!)

I believe there's a difference between fact and insult...

Might be a fact but maybe the customer just wanted a tablet that can do the basics but not have to carry around a clunky laptop. It’s like saying “why don’t you buy a desktop computer?” To somebody with a laptop. It’s not like Microsoft actually offer an alternative to the iPad.

Nope, It's very different. iPad still uses a mobile OS while Windows is a full desktop one, wether it's on a desktop, a laptop, a tablet, a 2-in-1 or whatever it still runs the same desktop OS.

I wonder if they really copied the surface pro. What goes around comes around I guess. If true I really doubt when Steve Jobs was In charge that would have happened. I wouldn’t get an iPad Pro myself. I think they don’t work for me more than an iPhone would or an iPad regular so why. If I needed the power in a tablet I would probably look at the surface tablet with a home computer like product I would be able to do a lot more. Well except you can get cheaper apps with iPad Pro.

I'm not so sure bout that, Steve Jobs was a copycat also... saying things like "no1 is going to use a big phone(galaxy note)" of "or smaller tablets (Nexus 7)" and voila theres the bigger iPhone and ipad mini -_-"

I would get an iPad for mobile games and apps/media consumption. I already have a Windows 10 laptop. For professionals like artists it's probably a toss up.

You can’t compare a desktop OS with a mobile OS. Desktotp OS is more powerful. Microsoft OWNS the desktop market share:https://www.netmarketshare.com/operating-system-market-share.aspx?qprid=8&qpcustomd=0 Even when you break it down by versions, Windows 10 beats out MacOS: https://www.netmarketshare.com/operating-system-market-share.aspx?qprid=10&qpcustomd=0

Really? My Windows 10 machine will any Mac a run for the money. You can't have Threadripper or Core i9 in Mac (yet), and you will not get custom cooler Radeon Vega in your Mac, so for the price premium, you're stuck with an Okay hardware compare to Windows.

Mac pros are an embarrassment for the price. Hedt is Linux and Windows territory.
