Latest rumor hint to August 21st as being the launch date for the Samsung Epic 4G
Sprint's Samsung Epic 4G is one handset that's planning to surprise many people when it's finally released, especially when launch dates keep on floating around pointing to different ones with nothing set in stone just yet. There's no arguing that the HTC EVO 4G is still providing the pin dropping network some much needed business, and they're probably stretching out that handset as much as they can right now before launching another 4G handset. However, the latest date to be looked at intently will be August 21st after new an Android Central forum member dished up some new information. Apparently Sprint dealers will be able to start placing orders for store inventory beginning on August 16th with actual sales commencing on August 21. Whichever way Sprint wants to sway the Epic 4G, it wouldn't surprise anyone for them to drill it straight to Verizon with their latest Motorola DROID 2 handset.

Hey yeah, remember when Sprint told you that you had 4G coverage but you pretty much dont, you have over glorified WiFi from clearwire and anyone with any phone can get the same thing for 25$ a month....Wow dont you feel awsome signing a 2 year contract with them...sucker.

I'm glad vzw has so much LTE coverage, making glorified WiFi so small. LTE is way faster and has way more subs than WiMax could dream of.

Don give me a break. I could use my Droid Incredible RIGHT NOW on Clearwire WiMax, you don't need a "Sprint 4G" phone to do it, so getting all excited about 4G phones on sprint is pathetic, ALL YOU NEED IS WIFI YOU STUPID ASS! your right LTE hasn't rolled out a phone yet, thats because it takes actual work to build a handset and a network that's LTE 4G not rename a WiFi widget "4G" and partner up with a pre-existing mobile WiFi provider. Are you all this stupid? Seriously? You Dan Hesse followers are worse than Steve Jobs followers. Oh he said 4g so it must be true....freking moron.

Another thing Don Loser, when LTE hits, you will switch. Your playing party boy cheerleader now, but you can't deny the power. Your WiMaxi pad will get full of your bull shit and you will realise, even though your still sour over being fired at Verizon, that LTE is superior in every way....faster, stronger, larger, and better penetration...reminds you of you boyfriend in prison doesn't it, and we all know how much you loved him.

Good thing your not though. It's probably because you have a brain. This mindless idiots see an unlimited everything plan and think its a gold brick, oh then "4G" "Rolls Out" ( oh I mean borrowed, like everything else at Sprint) trust me, if you get WiFi on your phone your not missing anything.

12. girlygirl211 unregistered

Really??? Wifi??? that is if you're lucky enough to find an unlocked WiFi signal and pray that it is strong enough...and the unlimited plan is amazing...i mean who really calls landlines anymore except buisness customers?? and in that case they can get it for 99.99....and btw that is everything, not just talk....and the EVO on that plan isn't an extra $10, maybe it's a glitch in the system but right now it's not extra

EVO does cost extra 10 dollars. My wife has one. Its a great phone though and easily worth the 10 compared to the cost of other plans on other networks.

LOL,, apperantly u have no idea how fast 4G is on Wimax if u comparing it to a WiFi signal on a Phone.. 4G blows wifi away regardless of what phone or smartphone you have on ur hands...

Wow! Your in bad shape. Really Wifi on a phone is slower than 4G (*SNAP*) Did that wake you up? ok good...pretty hard to be faster than Wifi when they are the same thing. The projected speed of your "Cheap" network ar 3-5 mbps when in the best 4G area possible. I get better than that on my Wifi from my phone at home and anywhere else with WiFi for that matter, aside from heavy traffic areas.

17. 3carrier unregistered

Once ur not using wifi ur screwed unlike us we are still running 3-5 mbps top is 10mbps (*SNAP*) oh and Sprint owns 56% of Clear so they are using sprint service and sprint limits clear and doesn't offer clear their peak speeds unlike us sprints customers we are maxing and relaxing (*Snap, Crackle, and POP*)

So what you're saying is LTE is also just "gorified WiFi" too then correct? I don't know about you but my Wifi works in my house, driveway, and backyard...it is not the size of a city like WiMax is and I can't use it while I drive but apparently you know something the rest of us don't. I guess VZW should just stop working on LTE since papagay says it just wifi...you get my vote for the internet tool of the day! Congrats! "Verizon's LTE field trials in Boston and Seattle have shown downlink average rates of 5 to 12 Mbit/sec and of 2 to 5 Mbit/sec, which will give mobile customers browsing speeds comparable to a typical wired home Internet experience, the company said." http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/191006/lte_speeds_faster_than_expected_in_verizon_ trials.html

Id love to rip into right now but you all just cry and Spam my posts to get them removed. Your stupid and thats the bottom line. To invest any more time explaining anything to you ignorant excuse for people would only exhaust me. Look at the freakin website in fine print.."Average speeds include 3-5Mbps" its at the bottom of your precious website for retards. @sellphones82, When did I say LTE was glorified Wifi? Never, WiMax is Glorified WiFi corn hole, so way to be the hooked on phonix reader of the day. Have fun with your Rice crispies buddy up there!

Wow...that went right over your head didn't it? I'll break it down for you like I do my 6 year old. VZW say users should expect 2 to 5 Mbit/sec which is comparable to typical home internet experience a.k.a WiFi. You said that WiMax is glorified WiFi because users get 3-5 Mbps. So how is WiMax 3-5MBps glorified Wifi but LTE 2-5MBps not? If what you are saying is true (which it is not) LTE would also be glorified WiFi because the real world speed will be nearly identical. You are correct...you never said LTE was glorified WiFi but by saying that WiMax is glorified WiFi would have implied that LTE would be the same since the speeds are the same and both are IP-based. Get it? I took the BS that you post and used it against you and you are having trouble understanding that which makes it even more funny and your posts even more BS. You are a VZW employee so any comment regarding any other carrier is so biased it's ridiculous. I'll break it down one more time just to make sure you get it this time. If WiMax = Glorified WiFi (which you did say) Then LTE = Glorified WiFi (which you did not say but is implied per your comment on WiMax) Why? Because the both are gonna offer the same real world speeds and based on the same tech. Again I took your own BS comment and showed you how BS it was by comparing it to LTE which went right over your head smart guy. So now please explain to me how one is glorified Wifi and the other is not even though the real world speeds will be the same? I look forward to your explanation since you are an expert on WiFi and 4g technology's.

22. WSUCOUG09 unregistered

hahaha. papa. You obviously don't get what he was trying to explain to you. LTE and Wimax are cross compatible. Making them pretty much the same technology. Therefore LTE is also a "wifi" signal in your terms. I don't understand why people like yourself dog on Sprint. They have a great mobile footprint, great customer service, and great handsets and plans. The fact of the matter is, Sprint does offer the cheapest prices in the market. and in times like these, more people could use the extra money. Sprint covers 1 million less people than Verizon. 1 Million is not a lot of people nationwide. compare that to AT&T which covers 4 million less people. Stop ragging on Sprint and the people that use their service. It's not their fault they make good decisions...oh wait... It's uneducated consumers like yourself that amazes me. How do you bag on a company that saves you money, offers you the EXACT same service as all the others but also gives you more? It makes no sense to me. You probably see those AT&T commercials that say "We cover 99% of the United States" and think they actually mean 99% of the land mass, when they really mean population. Do everyone a favor, go play in traffic.

I totally agree that this will be an amazing smarphone and with 4G nothing other then the EVO beats it.. But,,,, I do think SPRINT seriously need to add more Android phones to their Line up.. I know Motorola made an iDEN Android,, but come on, be serious,, Motorola needs to make an Android for the SPRINT / CDMA side of the house insatead of giving all the goodies to Verizon only.. And if is not Verizon, as long as Sprint ads more Androids that use the highest speeds available like 4G and Rev A,, they will truelly be in a good spot for some serious growth...
