LG the big winner from the Apple-Samsung skirmish, to supply most of the iPad Mini 7.85" displays

LG the big winner from the Apple-Samsung skirmish, to supply most of the iPad Mini 7.85
LG will be the company to benefit most from the patent litigation going on between Samsung and Apple, which forced Cupertino to try and wiggle out of their dependence on Samsung as components supplier.

Now the majority of the rumored 7.85" displays for the iPad Mini are said to come from LG's screen factories, and, considering Apple will likely sell many millions of the smaller iPad slates, it should bring a nice chunk of change into LG's coffers. Moreover, as it scaled up its capacity for Resolutionary displays, a lot of orders for the new iPad are going to it, instead of Samsung now, says the report.

Samsung still remains the flat-panel leader, before LG and Chimei-Innolux, and LG hopes to close the gap, benefiting from Apple's urge to limit Samsung's presence in its supply chain as much as possible.

That's okay... All Samsung needs to do now is make better Super AMOLED Displays may it be RGB or 1080p. Show Apple it's not your loss Sammy! Don't make the A6 and the majority of the Apple parts, it will crumble down like ashes!

adios to samsung display but i doubt samsung would let go of manufacturing the chips for apple. they are after all their biggest customer hence the texas plant built just for apple's A5,A5x chips. mutualism is the word to describe their relationship.

oh great idea… stop making revenue through one of your biggest customers… apple can always go get other people to make their parts-- no it wouldnt be optimal, and thats why both apple and samsung decide to keep things separated-- obviously there are tensions but they arent going to make poor business decisions based on pride

Honestly, this is the first Apple product I've ever been interested in. Screen size seems real nice. Not too big, not too small. If the price is right, I may finally have a product to show off to my hipster friends.

Still don't know why these companies wants to built parts for this greedy company after Apple tries to sue/ban them. I would NEVER make a deal unless Apple drop their law suit.

Apple pays them for manufacturing the parts then they sue them so they can get the money back. Apple logic, you can't deny it.

I hear business practice used by apple is also ruthless where they demand a pricing structure for figure x (let's use 5 million) and end up using that pricing for figure y (significantly less than figure x which the contract is based on). I know that lot of big corporations pull this move but with all the money in the world, i'm sure they can pay a little more without a huge impact on their margin which is already huge to begin with

Any Apple suppliers will be sue by Apple if you are making phones or tablets look like Apple. Now Samsung must be making the world best products to compete with Apple head to head.

lol no. if that was the case many other manufacturers would have been sued too, for phones that ''look'' lik e iPhone. Apple will only sue if you eat into their market share, irregardless if you are their supplier or not

The iPad mini is gonna have an 8 inch screen and the 'big' iPad will have a 9.7 inch screen, not much size difference really, how can all those ifans justify buying both, which of course they will do. The picture for this article makes the size difference look considerably larger than what it will be. As for screens lg make decent screens but Lgs track record of quality can be a little hit and miss
