An LG V40 (codenamed Storm) is seemingly in the making
LG already announced a new V-series smartphone this year - the V30S ThinQ, pictured above - so one may be wondering if the company has any other new handset from this series to reveal in 2018. Well, it looks like it has one.

According to Evan Blass (aka @evleaks), an LG V40 is in the making, and it's codenamed Storm. The new phone should be a true successor to last year's V30 - which the V30S ThinQ certainly isn't, as it's pretty much the same device (albeit with new AI-powered software tricks, and more memory).

Unfortunately, at this time, apart from its name and codename, we don't really know anything about the LG V40. What we do know is that, before announcing the V40, LG will launch a G7 ThinQ - this new G-series handset will be officially unveiled in early May, and could go on sale shortly after that.

Recently leaked images have shown that the LG G7 ThinQ should bring a notch (à la iPhone X), which leads us to assume that the LG V40 might also make use of this controversial design element. Of course, it's a bit too early to speculate about this.

We don't expect the LG V40 to be introduced before August-September, and a lot can happen by then. We'll just have to wait and see if this new V40 can take the smartphone market by... storm.

Hopefully, it will come with a better OLED screen. The V30 was amazing, but that screen kept me from buying one.

for me...its the selfie camera. It doesn't need to be the best...but it should be good enough for a flagship

Yeah, that selfie cam is a garbage. I personally do not mind, I use it just for video calls. I don't do selfies, but I understand having such a horrible face cam is an issue for a lot of people. + TBH I do not mind lower quality Amoled. Sure my friend has a Note 8 and that is clearly a better, but it's 6", it's a phone, I watch my photos on a 24", 4K screen anyway. BTW: Still no Oreo in Europe for LG V30+.

V30 is one of the best looking phone. Now just slim down a little top+bottom bezel then it's perfect. Notch who?

The bezels are already small enough. Make them smaller and you begin to enter notchville...gross.

I swear LG is run by idiots. First their Reddit survey about the notch shows people were clearly against it and now they're about to launch the phone with said notch. Then they rehash the V30 with gimmicky AI features that nobody asked for at the original launch price of the V30

Notch! If LG is smart, they should disable the notch by default and make it possible to enable it in the settings.

Better selfie wide angle camera that works bright and low light - front led flash. better wide angle rear camera & lowlight camera, hifi audio jack, stereo loudspeaker & mic, at least 128gb internal memory plus microSD, waterproof, OLED, AOD, bezel-less, large battery & fast charging, competitive price

Came from the G5 to the s9+ after nearly two years on and off with the G5. The glass on the display held up very well even better than the S9+. Its battery life was so bad after a while. It never got off 7.0.

What did LG v30 need to be the best smartphone in the market? 1)Just correct the quality issues in the display. 2)Better selfie cam. 3)Faster android updates.

V35, V40 announced within a few days of each other, with no confirmed availability. LG and Sony are probably giving up selling phones, they're just going to sell phone announcements from now on.
