Instagram grows to 80 million users, updates app
Instagram has grown tremendously after it arrived on Android, and now the photo manipulation and sharing service can brag about having 80 million active users who have shared around 4 billion photographs.

With Android devices covering virtually all price tiers in a huge number of countries, Instagram has also grown along to be a truly global brand. If you still haven’t tried it out, Instagram is a neat little program that gives you a set of filters to make your photos look more vintage and cooler.

Recently, Facebook announced it’s acquiring the app and as soon as the deal closes we expect the service to get tighter Facebook integration, and - who knows - if those rumors about a Facebook phone turn out to be true, maybe an even wider following along.

In the meantime, Instagram has also released an update to the app that fixes some bugs like a black screen for the filters on some devices. Weirdly, you can no longer find friends on Twitter due to an API conflict, but sharing on Twitter luckily still works.
