Just a few hours ago, we got a pretty solid leak about a new device coming from HTC. Dubbed the HTC A16 (it is yet unknown whether this is just a project code name or the phone's actual name), the device was shown in 6 different finishes in an alleged leaked press render. While no comments were made on the handset's specs, rumors claimed a price-tag of around $150, which immediately got us thinking "entry-level smartphone".
Now, Twitter user @LlabTooFeR — ROM developer by day, reputable leakster by night — has posted what he claims are the specs of the mystery phone. As previously speculated, it doesn't seem the A16 is going to be something to write home about – a Snapdragon 210 SoC, 1.5 GB of RAM, and 8 GB of expandable internal storage are allegedly under its hood. It's display is listed as having a 5-inch diagonal and a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution, and its cameras have an 8 MP sensor on the back and a 5 MP one on the front.
While there's no concrete word on whether we are going to see the A16 at the MWC 2016, leakster Evan Blass (@evleaks) did hint at it when he posted the renders of the device by saying "Tomorrow's news, yesterday". Either that, or we are reading into the tweet too much.
