GoPro stops support for Windows Phone
Action camera manufacturer GoPro was doing a good job supporting the Windows Phone platform. The company regularly updated its Windows Phone app and made sure that its latest cameras would work with it. GoPro even informed Windows Phone users that building a GoPro app that would work with Windows 10 Mobile for the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL was "one of the top priorities for the App team." But that was said in December, and things have changed since then.

In January, a GoPro support member ended up sending out a "Dear John" letter to Windows Phone users. Right away, with its talk of offering legacy support for Windows Phone, it was apparent that the wind had shifted. And on the GoPro website, Windows Phone was no longer listed as a location where one could pick up the GoPro app.

This isn't totally a Windows Phone problem. GoPro is facing competition and the company apparently doesn't have the wherewithal to continue supporting Windows Phone with the hope that it will eventually amount to something. In the meantime, the GoPro app is still available in the Windows Store.

Next Microsoft will stop supporting the Windows phone. Unless they can somehow make a dead horse gallop!

Wouldn't surprise me the slightest. Compared to Windows 10, windows 10 mobile is a failure.

W10 Mobile is horrible. Absolutely horrible...there is a reason even MS doesn't care about it. It's a sin what MS did to Windows mobile.

Useless to you maybe. You have already chosen Microsoft as your Lord and savior. But most of the articles points is valid or at least highly probable given Microsoft track record.

"points" "valid" yes Sweeny didn't even know how the store worked, yet went on some tirade about it. Then MS shut him up and he had to back track.

No software is my lord, I use many OS daily, I choose one because it gives me less problems, that is all. I defend against stupidity, I don't agree with any company 100%.

Good! So what are the things about Microsoft that you disagree with?

Let me start with Google. I think Google has non-existent customer support just automated replies. Maybe the early stages of skynet perhaps.

18 months phone support policy is a joke, many has done better. They settle for mediocrity when they choose to abandon their Nexus 4 and soon to be Nexus 5. Microsoft at least support their Windows XP for a decade.

Other than Google search, chrome, youtube and android. I can't think of any other successfully Google's product and brand.

At the end of the day, I just pick and choose the type of products and services that best suit me. Google and Microsoft both.

I am sure glad that Microsoft software monopoly days are over, or is it?

No one can predict what windows cooking for the surprise. Unit surface pro and surface book took high end laptop and tablet business by storm no one was dreamed about such products. Its just matter of time, when they release the surface phone with windows compatability, all the tech world will be awestuck and will hail the MS all the way.. I wish this become true...

If you rely on PhoneArena for Windows news, is like relying on hitler for good remarks of jews....no offense to all, may even get banned for it lol.

But go to windowscentral, you will see there are more apps every day that support windows or the UWP model than ones leaving it.

Everyone trashes Windows mobile. Not just PA. Going to Windows Central for Windows 10 mobile news is like going to a Nazi rally if you support the Nazi party.

strange as it might seem there are Millions of people who own and use Windows smart phone. I use one and like it.. I predict Microsoft will cut down on the number of Windows smart phones it will sell and this year could well be the last year we will see anymore Windows Lumia brand smart phone made. I think Microsoft has to work with Intel and make the Windows 10 OS smart phone pocket PC hybrid. Some people say this is not possible but there are at least 4 Android OS smart phones that use Intel Mobile CPU's and these CPU's can run Full Windows 10 desktop OS. Only a Windows pocket PC smart phone Hybrid can integrate with the Windows 10 Desktop/Laptop/Server OS in the way Microsoft wants smart phones to do. this type of Windows smart phones is Microsoft's futrure.
ARMs CPU Lumia smart phones just wont cut it. Microsoft has to make anther kind of smart phone
