Funxim's wireless charger to take on AirPower, top up iPhones and Apple Watches at low price

Apple's AirPower wireless charger is still a pie in the sky, postponed for early 2018 release, but there are already a few good options on the market to top off your new iPhones or Apple Watches sans cables. How about both? Yes, there is now a Kickstarter project called Funxim that is building a wireless charger which mimics the AirPower's featured ability to charge two Apple devices at once.

Granted, the Apple Watch will have to be put at a certain spot on the charger, and the iPhone next to it, unlike AirPower's free placement option, but that's a small inconvenience to bear at an early backer's price of just $29. The Qi wireless charger supplies no less than 10W of power, should your device be capable of taking advantage, and pumps the electrons in at a very good 80% conversion rate.

The project has about a month to go, but the target amount has already been raised, so the Funxim charger is happening, and you can save $50 off its eventual $79 retail price now. Granted, Funxim's affordable wireless charger for the iPhone and Apple Watch is pie in the sky still, but so is Apple's AirPower for now, and it might be a $200 one at that, while Funxim has experience building other Qi chargers, albeit of the round variety.

bearing in mind wireless charging tech has existed for years but you only position this as an apple competitor, how can we take your journalism seriously?

Because this pad charges multiple things at once, a competitor to AirPower.

Like others products then?

There are already charging pads that charge multiple things at once. But this one uses the original watch charging cable to charge older Apple watches as well. Something standard QI chargers & the AirPower can't do.

Give me the one, that isn't $200.

"Granted, the Apple Watch will have to be put at a certain spot on the charger, and the iPhone next to it, unlike AirPower's free placement option" Duh hello, this one uses the standard magnetic charger that came with the watch and will work with any watch version. The AirPower is QI only and will work only with the latest Watch iteration.

The Airpower also charges Your AirPods as well.

But only with the special wireless charging case that works on QI, which hasn't been released yet. It won't work on the current charging case. https://9to5mac.com/2017/09/21/airpods-wireless-charging-case-sold-separate/

When you pay more than $1000 for a phone, you will not save money for its charger.....
