Wow: Essential Phone price drops to $250 (Amazon Prime Day deal)

Wow: Essential Phone price drops to $250 (Amazon Prime Day deal)
Released in the US last year for $699, the Essential Phone now normally costs around $500 - that's not a bad price, considering all the high-end features that the handset comes with. But hear this: Amazon is getting ready to sell the Essential Phone for just $250, thus offering it for a price that usually gets you significantly inferior smartphones.

The Essential Phone will be sold for $250 only during Amazon's Prime Day 2018 event, which starts today, July 16, at 3 PM Eastern Time / 12 PM Pacific Time, and ends after 36 hours. You will (obviously) need an Amazon Prime account in order to take advantage of the deal, which is exclusively available in the US and Canada.
Right now, Amazon's awesome Essential Phone deal is not live, but it will be at the times mentioned above - in about 5 minutes from the moment we're publishing this article.

UPDATE: The deal is now live, including the Black Moon and Halo Gray variants of the smartphone - see the first source link below. Interestingly, Essential allows you to win one of its handsets by spreading the word on this deal on Twitter (US and Canada only). You can find all the details on exactly how you can win an Essential Phone at the second source link below.

This is a FANTASTIC deal on a very underrated phone. Not only is it fully stock, but it is unlocked for ALL carriers. And it receives extremely fast updates, and will definitely be getting P instead of being stuck on an older build and getting a beta for an already outdated version.

Great deal. Love mine, update after update each month shows me great care is still being given by essential. I had July's security update before my buddy's Pixel, got to love that. I think they (Essential) buried news purposely on next phone effectively and media took it with the Doom and gloom angle and overlooked a crafty Andy. My guess, every second year a new model, goes with the vision of not replacing yearly. Strange as that might be too many.

In for one Halo Grey. To my understanding this color has a matte feel on the back. I’ll just keep it around for novelty. I am still dailying a iP8+ which handles my daily tasks well.

Yeah. I have the Halo Grey; it is pretty close to black in appearance, but it is the matte finish and not the glossy finish of the "Black Moon" version.

That Halo grey looks nice, I never saw it before. I was focused on getting the Black/Copper, gave up and settled with Black Moon. Which is nice in its own way, but too shiny almost.

I don't like the huge bezel on the bottom of the phone. It still looks pretty good.

In person it isn’t that big. I just wish the bottom corners were rounded like the top corners. That’s a pet peeve of mine.

Yeah, even with that bottom bezels, it still have higher screen-to-body ratio than iPhoneX. Using dark colored wallpaper may help to hide that bezel (and notch).

Not worth it...

Your an iDiot. It certainly is worth it and actually it's worth more. Especially when it has the latest Android. Plus if you want to try out Android P, then you can install that as well. Plus it is made out of Titanium and Ceramic. It got great reviews for durability. Something that the iPhone X failed on. That's why Apple charges you over $500 to repair the glass back on the iPhone X. Plus for $50 more you can get a 4k 360 camera attachment for this Essential phone. Making it truly a steal at a total of $300. Try buying a 360 camera alone CreeDiddy.

Bruh, I don’t even agree with him... but damn you sound butthurt in every comment you make. Did Apple burn your village to the ground or something?

@ Kiko007 - You know, that individual is nut, got to bring Apple in everything. @ $250 it is a good buy, the question is how long is Essential going to be around to provide future updates, if its something you care about. Right now they don't have another product and are looking for a buyer. Not sure how long they can last with the cash on hand if no one buys them.

They got a really hefty evaluation before the PH1’s release, so I’m hopeful that they can stick around for at least another year or two. That’s long enough to get out the two “status quo” updates they need to in Android realm. I’m assuming they have some assets they can leverage to remain around until bought.

for $250 i would do it, even if essential isn't around for much longer the developer community will be.

CreeDiidy is a known Apple lover, and at the same time an Android basher. So when that iDiot said it's not worth it. Then I brought up his Apple love to show it in comparison to this device. There is a lot more that I could have brought up as well, but I didn't.

I've noticed that guy seems to have some kind of issue and obsession with hating Apple and loving Android like a die hard lover.

What has this to do with the iPhone X? We ger it, you despise Apple, there is no need to bring them up in every comment of yours. And yes, even at $350 and $450, this phone is still worth. One of very few phones that are running stable version of Android P, latest security updates, hsnds down the best premium built phone last year, great camera hardware that can easily rival the top dogs once you install the gcam, fantastic battery life, and etc... You can easily defend spending money on buying this highly underrated phone, without bashing any other phone while doing it.

It's certainly worth $250, hell I don't think there is a better option out there at that price, the phone got plenty of improvements via software updates after it's initial launch, just look at that user review rating! It's biggest win is the fact that it has a tolerable notch, I can't stand any of the others.

I got one for $450 and think it was worth it at that price. At $250, if I needed a new phone, I would consider it a steal and no-brainer.
