Deal: The new Samsung DeX Pad is nearly half off on Amazon

Deal: The new Samsung DeX Pad is nearly half off on Amazon
Samsung launched a new version of the Dex Pad along with the Galaxy S9 and S9+, but the accessory is fully compatible with other high-end smartphones as well, such as the Galaxy S8/S8+ and Note 8.

Although Samsung offered the new DeX Pad for free to those who purchased the Galaxy S9/S9+ in some countries, other customers would have to pay $100 to buy one. However, the accessory went on sale not long after its market release, so anyone owning one of Samsung's smartphone compatible with the DeX Pad could buy one for less than $100.

As a matter fact, Amazon had the DeX Pad on sale for 20% off earlier this week. For some reason, the US retailer has dropped the price of the DeX Pad even lower only a few days later. So, instead of getting the DeX Pad for 20% off, customers can now grab one at nearly half price.

If you've been eyeing the DeX Pad and looking for a price drop, Amazon's offer seems the best we've seen to date, as you can now purchase one for just $58.

People not seeing it as a useful tool I guess, or unsure of what they can do with it.

Having had the Motorola Atrix with media dock, and wanting to get so badly an Asus Padfone with its tablet dock.... All I can think of is that people do not like to spend on accessories that probably won't be useful or compatible with future devices... I take full advantage of my phones but most people don't.... I would probably get one if I liked Samsung devices, but now that current laptops turn on instantly and wake up like phones, it is a lot more practical for me to use my Surface than said docks... Back in the day with the Motorola, my laptop took a couple of minutes to get to the desktop, and the battery was crap... But now that is no longer the case..

If someone doesn't game on their desktop, then this is a actually a great alternative to a desktop, as it can do everything that the average consumer requires, and Samsung's flagships are powerful enough to run it.

An Apple A9 processor and GPU can run MacOS easily if it was x86 compatible. A mobile phone is not meant to run desktop applications.

The Snapdragon 845 runs x86 programs and there are Windows on ARM devices already on sale.

It's not running desktop applications, because it's not running windows. It's still running a version of Android, simply made for a bigger screen. Furthermore, mobile phone SoC's has already made it into 2-in-1 products with Windows on them, so clearly mobile SoCs is more than capable of running desktop applications.

It runs mobile applications and games on a bigger screen. No iPhone can do this in the way the Dex does. A9, 10 or 11!

It will be as useful as chromebook.. If you have a monitor, mouse, and keyboard on table and ready to use. normally you should also have a PC near it.

Am pretty curious about this product, not too shabby for a 100 USD except developers are divided with regards to optimizing this accessory

I don't see markets for this product and clearly very few see. Who have extra screen, keyboard and mouse at home who doesn't already have laptop or desktop pc. And why would you use this product and not just lot more powerful pc or laptop with real software This won't get developers support either.

Well, of course you don't. There's no Apple logo on the back. Just like phablet sized phones, or displays higher than 326ppi, you'll suddenly see a market for such an amazing product once Apple introduces one.

And the price is back up. 80's still better than 100 from Samsung, but not 60 anymore.

I guess that price was extremely brief because Amazon is selling it for $79.88 not for $58

I had a $50 credit from Samsung that was expiring, so I ordered the new Dex. With the credit it cost me $50.. It came in this past weekend, but I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. If it'll let me pass my sling box, Netflix, etc...shows to it, it'll be well worth it.
