It wasn't me! CNN only pushed a Korean missile story once, Apple News mishap pushed it 20x
We’re working to fix an Apple News issue that caused some users to receive duplicate notifications. We apologize for the inconvenience this caused.

UPDATED: Apple News clarified that the problem is with its push service, not with CNN or Fox News, and is working to prevent duplicates in the future.
CNN had a story yesterday, and it was a decent story - about the guy who sent the fake North Korean missile alert in Hawaii being fired. It said that the person is not cooperating with investigators, as they really thought there was a missile hurtling from the toy town of Kim Jong-un to the Hawaiian shores, hence the mass text sent via the state's emergency service that brought people to a panic earlier this month.
CNN was forced to issue a statement that the problem is on the News servers' part, and Apple confirmed it's the app's fault; moreover, News subscribers also mention they received multiple instances of one and the same push notification from Fox as well. Long story short, you'd better turn off push notifications from the News app on your iPhone, until the dust settles, and Apple remedies the mishap on its part.
source: 9to5MacWe are aware that some Apple News users recently received multiples of the same alert. Our server log shows CNN sent only one. We are working with Apple to identify their issue, as users on CNN-owned platforms did not experience a problem. Apologies to those who did.
