You can snag an unlocked Essential Phone for $280 from Amazon
Last month during Amazon Prime Day, the unlocked Essential Phone was available for $250. Since then, we've seen Essential sell the handset for $399 with $107 worth of accessories (including the 360 modular camera) tossed in. If you've been waiting for the $250 price to reappear though, Amazon's latest deal on the device might be as close as you get for some time. Amazon is selling the unlocked Essential Phone in Halo Gray for $279.99.

There are things to like about the Essential Phone, including the edge-to-edge 5.7-inch display, the quick updates (the handset has been updated to Android 9.0 Pie), and the 128GB of native storage. Not every one will be enamored with the dual camera setup on back, and the 3,040mAh battery seems light for a flagship model these days. With an IP54 certification rating, the unit cannot be submerged like those other phones with IP67 or IP68 ratings. The Essential Phone will survive a minor splash.

Amazon says that the deal cuts 44% or $220 off its usual full price of $499.99. And if you sign up for the Amazon Rewards Visa Card and get approved, Amazon will take another $50 off the unit. That would drop the cost of the Essential Phone to $229.99.

Better, and cheaper, than most mid rangers with 128 GB storage and top of the line performance built with actual premium materials. Competition is wonderful.

But probably they'll throw the towel really soon, drop all the support for this phone, and quit the smartphone industry entirely, lol..

“Competition is wonderful.” So you think their failure is great. That phone is selling at that price for a reason, to clear their stock before they close shop.

Where did Essential say this, citation please? Pulling it out of your smart sphincter perhaps as nothing has been said like that. s**tting on competition when it's down shows a weak hand, do you want just two OEM to be able to make phones? No? Then maybe stop trying to further damage a decent underdog.

Hard to stay mad at a decent deal like this. Underdog of the year.

PA should do a redo of this phone with all the Camera updates and 9.0 P.

This is freaking amazing. This is a fantastic deal on a very underrated phone. It's stock, it's unlocked for ALL carriers, and it gets consistent updates. No need to spend $600 on something that doesn't have the specs that the Essential phone has.
