Best Buy will give you an iPhone 6 for $1 on-contract if you trade in a working iPhone 5
Last week, we told you that Apple increased the iPhone trade-in value by $15 across all models. Although a welcomed improvement, Apple will only give you $100 worth of credit if you trade in your iPhone 5, which is certainly not the best trade-in value around. If you crave for the iPhone 6 but feel like your iPhone 5 is worth more money, and you also don't want to go through the experience of selling the old handset yourself, you might want to take advantage of a new promotion from Best Buy.

If you trade a working iPhone 5, the retailer is offering the 16GB iPhone 6 at just $1 on a two-year contract with either Sprint or Verizon. The 16GB version of the iPhone 6 is usually priced at $200 with a two-year agreement, meaning that Best Buy is practically offering $199 for your old iPhone 5, which is almost double the credit you'd get by going through Apple directly. The new Best Buy promotion is valid through June 20.

With any new smartphone purchase, Best Buy is also handing out a $25 gift certificate. $199 is also a bit above what you can currently get for a used iPhone 5 on eBay, which makes this trade-in promotion even more valuable. Head over to the source link below to find out more details from the retailer itself.

The problem here is that in order to take advantage of this offer, you would have to be eligible for a new two year contract. And considering that the iPhone 6s is coming out in a few short months, why wouldn't you just wait until then to get the newest iDevice as opposed to one that's nearly a year old?

Well that's why they do these deals now to make their sales targets later in the year. Most people will align their renewal with the new iPhone release and therefore, Apple is danger of posting big release numbers but then dropping fast. Their main market is the US so they desperately need to keep the numbers up. Any small hiccup and the Bears will swoop in and destroy their share value which is Tim Cook's only real accomplishment.

The iPhone 6 is 3 years old texhnically, so.it's already outdates. Also both phones share the same hardware. The 5, 5S and 6'a all have the same cpu, gpu, camera and amount of ram and storage size too. Basically you're getting the same model but in a new cases foe free. I guess the new case is worthy $200. Lol

I think for some they can't afford the $199 up front for the 6s, so this deal is not bad for them.

I suppose that's true. I forget that not everyone is obsessed with having the latest and greatest and can't afford to be a first adapter.

Apple really is a marketing genius. These little trade offs and sweet deals will cut throat sammy's sales in US inch by inch.

That's because Best Buy allegadly gets between $300.00-$500.00 from the Cell Phone companies for each customer they sign to a 2 year contract according to some Tech Guru I saw on TV a few weeeks ago. We all know that if a Tech Guru says something on TV then it must be true.or maybe not.

This is the same promo that Best Buy does every year around this time, same thing for Sams Club. Which last week had the iPhone 6 on sale foe $122.99 for 16gb handset & $192 for 64GB HANDSET. The SAMs Club is a better deal
