Asus tablet shipments rumored to soar by end of the year
It would be absolutely fine if you remain skeptical after reading this one as the rumor that we just came across comes straight from our favorite hit-or-miss source DigiTimes. So, according to sources supposedly familiar with the matter, Asus is planning on shipping as much as 4.5 million tablet devices during the second half of 2011 – more than twice as much as the company initially estimated to pump out over the course of the whole year.

Reportedly, Asus is now demanding up to 500,000 touch panels to be delivered every month by its suppliers, which is the main reason for the optimistic shipping estimates. If the rumors turn out to be true, Asus may very well become one of the top players on the tablet market surpassing companies like Motorola and RIM.

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer has been enjoying great popularity so far due to its relatively low price tag and great value-for-money factor. Besides that, the Asus Eee Pad Slider is said to be on its way, and even the MeMO 3D and the PadFone might hit the market eventually, so those rumors might really be on to something.
