Asus ZenFone 2 appears on Flipkart just prior to launch

The Asus ZenFone 2 will launch in India this coming Thursday, April 23rd. But in advance of the occasion, on-line retailer Flipkart has posted a countdown timer that will hit zero on Thursday. While the device will be available with 2GB or 4GB of RAM, it also will be offered with 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of native storage. The 16GB version with 2GB of RAM will cost you the equivalent of $224 USD. With 4GB of RAM, that price is the equivalent of $288 USD.

With a 5.5-inch LCD screen carrying a 1080 x 1920 resolution, the ZenFone 2 display has a pixel density of 403ppi. A 64-bit quad-core 2.3GHz Intel Atom Z3580 CPU is under the hood. Regardless of which storage option you choose, if you need more memory you can use the 64GB capacity microSD slot. A 3000mAh battery powers the phone, which has a 13MP camera on back and a 5MP selfie snapper on front. Android 5.0 is pre-installed.

The Asus ZenFone 2 rear camera comes with Super HDR for 400% improved contrast, and the Low Light Mode lets you take better pictures in less than optimal lighting conditions. A Beautification Mode allows you to touch up selfies with "digital makeup," and you can use the front-facing camera to take 140 degree panoramic selfies.

No removable battery unless they make a different version for the U.S.

Now this is a true flagship without cutting corners at a mid range price. Will keep an eye out on this phone. Only thing that worries me is the camera. Review on GSMArena.com States that the pictures have a soft and cartoonish appearance which is typical of hone from many of the Chinese manufacturers

It's a pity they don't make a 5" model with the exact same specs. Would've gotten one as a secondary phone in a heartbeat. And I don't know how many times I'd have to say this - ASUS is a Taiwanese company. Calling them Chinese is a swift slap on the face for them so please..

The phone is nice but IMO it's getting a little overhyped. The high end variant costs about 400$ and to be frank, I didn't find much reason to get it over, say, the note 3 which costs about the same. Well yes, the zenfone has extra 1 GB of RAM but that's about it. The note has better screen, battery life, and features. the atom and snapdragon 800 are almost equal in performance and the cameras shouldn't be much different. But hey, that's just my opinion.

the phone costs around 320$ for 64gb/4gb model its the amazon selling it for 385$ and z3580 is better than sd801 and a little less than sd805 only in terms of gpu and lannister im damn sure you are very much aware of it but anyways its camera sucks when compared to note3 when zoomed a bit but still zenfone2 can be overall called best phone under 500$ right now

Maybe because it uses an Intel chip, and many people think of Windows and Intel together? Just a thought.

Poossibly oh well it will never happen possibly looking for a reason to go back to Windows phone. I'd also like to see a rog of this maybe some custom apps for rog boards and cards to monitor stuff like temps and fan speed etc.
