Apple may be planning to launch the iPhone 4 in India

Apple may be planning to launch the iPhone 4 in India
Earlier today, a report from The Guardian said that India was set to become the second largest smartphone market in the world this year, staying behind only China. And, a new rumor is saying that Apple might be hoping to cash in on this emerging market by re-releasing a budget device, which by Apple standards means the 4 year old iPhone 4.

The iPhone 5s and 5c have been something of a dud so far in India, because the devices are simply too expensive for users there. As a result, Apple has seen its market share drop in the country. So, there is a new rumor going around that Apple will re-introduce the iPhone 4 at somewhere around $250 in order to try to attract more users.

This is definitely a bit of a risky move, if it is true. Few mobile devices age well past the two year mark, and Apple products are no different. The iPhone 4 can technically run iOS 7, but many users have found performance to be somewhat lacking. The move would certainly give customers a viable option from Apple at a pretty good price point, but given that the Moto G is expected to be released in India towards the end of this month.
