Apple iPhone 5c causes major burns after exploding in a man's pocket
A Long Island resident named Erik Johnson found out the hard way that the Apple iPhone 5c is still red hot, literally. With the handset in his pocket, Johnson was bending down to pick up his keys when he heard a strange sound from his pocket. The next thing he knew, his iPhone was on fire, burning his leg and forcing him to stay hospitalized for ten days with second and third-degree burns on his inner thigh.

While Apple is investigating the incident, Johnson says that he only used the charger supplied by Apple with the device. Third party chargers from China have been blamed for other incidents involving Apple devices, including one last March that forced Minnesota resident Tim Tyrrell to undergo four operations on his hand.

Considering that Johnson's attorney has already appeared on local coverage of the incident, we can guess what the victim has in mind. You can be sure that Apple won't leave any rocks unturned as it looks to find the reason why this iPhone 5c exploded.

With the hundreds of millions of iPhone sold, it is a great accomplishment that it is only once in every 6 months to read these kinda stories.

This will get the attention of Samsung and the lack of SD card on the S6. LMAO!!! I still can't stop laughing since last night. I apologize I know it's a Apple article but this will give Samsung die hard fans something to talk to about other than the S6

Not really, Samsung had phones blowing up in people's pockets, Sony did, HTC and LG as well. If anyone will use this title to troll on Apple, he should do some researching before he post his comment.

Your are up on why they removed the sd card the phone mem is Near 3 times the normal speed so any sd card will easy lag the phone and make it work like crap, I.e. It's the best move going by our slow it is on my own note edge a dos on

I'm not a die hard sammy fan, neither do I have the money for s6 or any kind of smartphone right now,but if it doesn't have a microsd card slot I'll be disappointed, and if later generations do the same,I will switch to another company when it comes to changing my phone.

Three times the amount of a figure measured in microseconds will make it run like crap? I've had phones with mircoSD cards and phones without, and there's really no difference in performance.

This could happen to any phone. If the battery goes bad, it will swell up and eventually leak the chemicals.

My father had the same casing when his 5c heat up too much while on his pants. When he took it out of his pocket, it was really hot (not "warm" anymore) and the battery had bulged. It was still working, but the home button wasn't responding. He had it replaced with a 3rd party battery, no problems so far after 2 months. Seems the case was too thick, or that the battery they supplied it with was subpar.

This can happen to anything. There are millions of iPhones out there. One in millions are not bad odds for Apple. However, Apple should give the guy a free iPhone 6.

You're right about the 1st part. As for the iPhone 6, i am pretty sure the man is going for that green paper, and he will demans millions of them.

Yeah....I am not sure he would want another iPhone, even if its free, after this mishap.
