An engineering prototype of the
Nokia EOS has leaked, and this one is crafted out of aluminum, instead of the allegedly
polycarbonate body we've seen leaked before. We heard about an
aluminum-clad EOS way back in January, when it was reported that PureView Phase 1 in the Nokia 808 PureView, which brought along lossless zoom and pixel oversampling, and PureView Phase 2, which inserted optical image stabilization in a smartphone for the first time, will be kept separate this year.
Still, companies often make numerous prototypes of their flagship devices, and with the first true cameraphone bearing a modern mobile OS, we are sure Nokia has considered various chassis options to make it stand out further. Which one will
land in July is anyone's guess. Alternatively, it might be the shell for the rumored next iteration of the EOS, hopefully merging
PureView Phase 1 and 2 into a 41 MP sensor with OIS tech.
The other intriguing part of the leak is that we are seeing "41 MP" and "PureView" stamped on the aluminum mold, further proving that we are about to see a beast of a cameraphone, so we can't wait to stage a fight with the
Galaxy S4 Zoom and the upcoming
Sony Honami imaging specialist.
