Alleged Apple iPad Air 2 guts photographed – another confirmation of A8X and 2 GB RAM

We've heard the rumors about the Apple iPad Air 2 sporting an A8X SoC and 2 GB of RAM a few times already. A picture, published by Taiwanese site Apple Club just adds to the pile, but it's still an interesting bit to look at.

What Apple Club posted is allegedly the guts of an iPad Air 2 – a PCB board with what looks to be most of its components already in place, including the A8X chip and the Elpida 2 GB RAM chip right next to it. If real, the whole thing was possibly pulled fresh off the assembly line (let's hope no one gets fined $50 million for this juicy leak).

The Apple iPad Air 2 is expected to be revealed this Thursday, alongside a new version of the iPad mini, and a refresh of at least one of the Mac lines (as derived from the Cupertinians' invitation, which only reads "It's been way too long"). The event will be live-streamed, but if you can't wait – check out our rumor round-up here.

Do you consider the surface Pro 3 a tablet??

Don't. But even if you do, would you trade a hudred bucks and about 70% heavier body for not so much faster experience (and shorter battery life) ?

Sorry buddy, but the Surface Pro 3 is a tablet. You can't say otherwise. Sure it's expensive, but it can actually do stuff PC's can & do stuff iOS & Android tablets can't!

It can do some things like a PC, but it doesn't matter because: 1. We live in post PC era. 2. It is compromising on weight and battery life to do so. Or I would consider that apealing if it would be same formfactor as an iPad Air for example, thin, light and long lasting. But now it's just a bad laptop and an even worse tablet, nothing more.

POST PC ERA! Are you kidding me... lol Now I know you are either a teenager or some lost poor adult soul, because that comment is premature at best! Try working at any major fortune 500 corporation with just an iPad. lol WOW! That comment just lost you all credibility. I am so sorry you think that!

I want to apologize. I didn't mean to sound so harsh with the credibility remark, it's just to say we life in a "Post PC era" is SUPER extreme. Again I was so shocked that anyone would think that, sorry for coming off so harsh. I reread my remark & I feel it's indeed harsh!

Hey I am an Android guy. I am going to buy the Google Nexus 9 when it comes out for sure. I can admit with out any doubt that the Surface Pro 3 is an awesome sweet device. It's just that for the price of it, I would love to build a Home Theater PC with a Blu-Ray burner & 2TB of memory, SSD drive, with an kick ass Intel processor & a sick graphics card, all with 7.1 surround sound in a case that looks like a AV receiver! That's just me though! lol

I'm a teenager and I'm really worried about the future of PC's. Almost nobody my age or younger has or even wants a PC or if they have they don't use it. Mostly just the people who do gaming have a PC.

Trust me PC's are awesome still. What you can do & accomplish on them is insane. Build yourself a kick a$$ PC. You will LOVE IT! I promise. Gaming on PC's is bananas! +1 for the honesty.

That's because they don't work yet. Osx/windows are not going anywhere anytime soon in industry

What kind of tool sells his soul to work for a Fortune 500 corp?

Lol post PC era. I strongly doubt that companies like Intel and Nvidia would be releasing new desktop components such as Intel's new i7-5xxxK series CPUs and Nvidia's GTX 9xx series of graphics cards if the PC were a dying market. Mobile and game console manufacturers wouldn't be striving for desktop class performance if the PC was really something that was on it's way out. I'll believe PC is dead when a tablet can beat out the raw computational and gaming performance of my PC at an equal or lesser cost.

Thank you. You speak of entertainment, & that is SUPER important also, but like I stated earlier business runs on PC. You need a PC to make an iPad, not the other way around. Trust me iPad's are NOT being used in fortune 500 corporations run business. They are a complement for email & menial duties. DEFINITELY will never replace a PC. As a matter of fact, PC's are getting smaller & smaller. Once the Surface Pro 3 caliber tablet is the same price as a iPad or Android tablet, guess what the masses will buy... "Post PC era"... Joke of the day for sure! +1

CAD (I mean real CAD). 3D models (Pixar). Programming: 10 different windows where you can write 10 different functions. Stocks; no, I don't mean the app on iPhone, I mean 3 23" displays with 50 live records. Do you want more?

Finally! Last years iPads and iPhone should've shipped with 2 gigs of RAM, especially with 64 bit.

The mini is this year's best-kept iToy secret. The Air has basically been outed before the official announcement. OTOH, very few details of the mini have leaked. Most of what has 'leaked' on the mini is more in the category of speculation.

iOS is already a compact kernel derived from Mac OS X. Android, Mac OS X, iOS all have Unix/Linux roots. Only Microsoft OS three distinctive kernel for PC/RT/WP. There should just extend their x86 and amd64 kernel to phone like they planned with Windows 10.
