AT&T's HTC One (M7) and HTC One (M8) to get Lollipop by the end of the month
During today's HTC Uh-oh protection webcast announcement, HTC Americas president Jason Mackenzie answered tweets sent from consumers. One question inquired when AT&T customers with the HTC One (M7) and HTC One (M8) would receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. AT&T subscribers with the One (M8) received Android 4.4.4 along with HD Voice and the EYE Experience camera update in late January, well after other carriers had disseminated it.

Mackenzie admitted that he was "not happy" with the delay in sending out the update to AT&T customers. He blamed the delay in part to changes made with AT&T's network, and also said that the carrier wanted HTC to include certain things with Android 5.0. The update adds the Material Design look, the 64-bit ART compiler for faster opening of apps, Project Volta for increased battery life, lock screen notifications, a new 'Recent Apps' page, the ability to open the 'Quick Settings' menu from any screen, and more.

While Mackenzie didn't offer a specific date when AT&T customers will receive Android 5.0 for their HTC One (M8) and One (M7) units, he did say that it is in the certification process and should be released by the end of this month. Verizon, which has often been criticized for being slow to update customer's handsets, updated subscribers' HTC One (M8) to Android 5.0.1 in the beginning of the month.
