AT&T sold out of iPhone 4 on pre-order day
It was quite an eventful day for AT&T, Apple and the many people who managed to reserve an iPhone 4 either online or at the store. AT&T's servers, as we earlier reported, sagged under the weight of all of those pre-orders and that slowed things up tremendously. In addition,those who ordered from Apple's web site also had some problems, although not quite as severe as those who placed their pre-order through the carrier. Things got so bad at AT&T that employees there had to resort to using ancient implements like a pen and pad to take orders. It was the busiest online sales day in the history of the carrier and customers will receive an e-mail when their order is about to leave the docks. Those who placed an order after 4:30 pm EDT will have their iPhone 4 shipped to them between June 25th and July 5th. As for those who like to wait until the last minute, some units might be available at AT&T stores on June 24th and will be sold on a first come-first serve basis.
