2019 iPhone XR to support faster LTE speeds thanks to updated antenna layout

2019 iPhone XR to support faster LTE speeds thanks to updated antenna layout
Apple iPhone XR

Due to the iPhone XR’s current antenna design, the budget flagship doesn’t perform quite as well as the premium iPhone XS line when it comes to LTE connectivity. With the 2019 model, however, this could all change.

According to a research note by Barclays, the iPhone XR’s successor will include the same 4x4 MIMO (multiple-input, multiple-output) antenna layout that is currently found inside the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. Essentially, this means that rather than including just two antennas like the current-gen model, the 2019 iPhone XR will feature four separate antennas.

These additional antennas mean the next-gen iPhone XR will include two extra data paths. In layman’s terms, this means the smartphone will be capable of transferring more data simultaneously, thus allowing for improved LTE data speeds.

Aside from the updated antenna layout, the 2019 model is also expected to feature a new dual-camera layout on the rear that’ll make use of a main 14-megapixel sensor and a secondary 10-megapixel camera complete with a telephoto lens.

Completing the smartphone’s setup will likely be an upgraded processor, a smaller notch, and potentially thinner bezels, although the LCD panel will be retained.

I was thinking to get iPhone xr 2018 but now that I know it has slower LTE signal, not anymore. Thanks for the info PA.

And the Modem used in the XS was already bad in the first place.

They better make the 2019 iPhone XR full HD+ resolution display. The current HD+ resolution display is crap. Plus put more RAM. Not to mention iOS needs to add the ability to change some defaults. Spilt screen multitasking. Home screen and lock screen manipulation, and more. What good is updating the SoC for more speed and processing, when the current iPhones cannot take advantage of all the speed.

See, that's the whole problem with Apple, to them, having a different Antenna and camera layout calls to name it a "new model". It's awful! Consumers need to stop supporting these types of manipulations. Asides from that, LTE? We're moving to the 5G network Tim, where have you been?

Which is more important? Faster LTE or 1080P(min) screen. My biggest reason for not trying the XR this year is the idiotic screen resolution for such a big phone. I will skip 2019 as well if the resolution is still 720P.

Faster LTE.... Meanwhile other flagships at the same price already use 5G.

they might use 5G but there isnt enough coverage for 5G, so it's pretty useless in 2019, a gimmick
