1 millionth app gets submitted to the App Store today

Right now, there are 736,247 apps active on the App Store, and 45% of them, or 336,270 apps are paid. Interestingly, around 15% of those are games - there are 120,065 games on Apple’s app catalog.
This is just another example showing how big of an industry apps have grown to be. And while iOS is the biggest platform, paying out the most to developers, Google’s Play app catalog caught up with the App Store and Google approximates the number of apps it has at around 750,000. The Windows Phone Marketplace is a distant third with around 125,000 applications.

You know a lot of apps have detailed user reviews so people are obviously using them

One millionth app gets submitted and, shortly thereafter, gets rejected; all happening today, stay tuned. Great Apple coverage, as usual (too bad their phones don't equal coverage terms of service).

The way you guys hate apple there is no way you use or own apple products so it is amazing how you can give such extensive reviews comments and facts about what is and isnt there. I love my gnex but FOR ME the play store leaves much to desired since i am not into games and such. A few network monitoring apps there but as of yet have not found one that works. That being said About the same results on App store for iPad but i just got the iPad to be fair. Wow just pure unadulterated hate. exhale sometime. I await the childish and attempt at being funny remarks.

sorry buddy but your wrong. I don't have any apple products besides an ipod, but my girlfriend has almost everything apple: ipad mini, 4th generation iPad, new iPod, and of course the iPhone5. oh yeah and a Mac.With that being said, I see on a daily basis how ios is, and it sucks!! How about that extensive review?

Cant be wrong you just said you dont own any. guess the ipod doesnt count. certain android product products are pure garbage and shouldnt even be sold. But that is another topic based purely on opinion. My opinion is pure google no extras and even then so features fall short. You hate apple good we get it. Android and Google are not the Messiah of OS's though. Numbers dont lie nobody is brain washed no one lied to you just hate them and the many people on team google. i ride independent use a gnex/Macbook/ipad/galaxy tab. Google and carriers get on my nerves me off with lack of updates. The only thing pushing me away is how fast some devices become obsolete. i should not have to go third party to keep my device up to date or at least close to that. And iOS and OS X are not the same..., yet
