Apple iPhone 5 reportedly in trial production with Q3 launch eyed

Some of the other changes to Apple's handset are things already bandied about in earlier discussions. For example, the financial paper expects the iPhone 5 to be equipped with a bigger 4 inch screen so that the phone can compete with the newer Android models which are sporting 4 inch to 4.3 inch displays. The bigger screen is supposed to stretch out all the way to the edge of the phone which will allow the handset to be the same size as the current model. Another big change involves the replacement the glass body seen on the current iPhone 4 with a less fragile metal chassis.

I am interested in seeing what apple willl do with its Iphone lineup this year,
Sprint announcing the Evo 3D, and the countless other android phones storming out the gates, Apple only releases one phone per year, lets hope they actually make a dent in revolution this go around

Unfortunately for Apple, they've hit a wall in terms of what they can do with their phone. They can't (or won't) change the size, so all they can do is stretch the screen to the borders and boost the camera. They won't make it LTE because the tech is unproven by their standards. The A5 dual core processor will be a big improvement, but nothing about the phone sounds revolutionary. I see the following:
4" retina display
1 Ghz dual core
8 MP camera
HSPA+ for AT&T?
So essentially, an iPhone-shaped ATRIX.

Well I feel like every manufacturer has hit a wall right now. I feel like there are 3D phones coming out because there just isn't anything else to put on phones (every Android phone is starting to look exactly the same).
I've always thought 3D was cool, but I don't know how long it will last. Will every phone two years from now have a 3D screen is what I want to know, cause that might be a little annoying. Hopefully for Apple, this is the year of software because that's where every phone lacks.

Ok good for them apple lovers, but the iphone 5 is going to have a hard time beating android devices, there are some android phones that have already come out like the Atrix that blows averythng else away, even the phone becomes the best phone it wont be for a long time probably a couple of months. Plus they are coming up with a new atrix already coming out Q4 with android 2.3 and 4g lte, and a whole lot more 2.3 android coming about the same time the iphone 5 comes out or later. Apple cant compete with android.

I love how you say Apple is going to have a hard time beating android devices, as in 1 vs 1,000. Anyways, the iPhone 4 is still doing pretty well right now almost a year later so I'm not too worried about how well the iPhone 5 will do. If a new iPhone was being released in Q4 like the new atrix with only lte upgrade, people would say that it's a minor update. But because it's android, its revolution! Apple will probably out-do Android come this June, just like it did last year.

I'm a bit disappointed in the iPhone 5, especially because quad core will be coming out most likely at the same time. Still super excited to see apples final product!!!

Even if the quad core phones comes out still can't be faster than dual core iPhone. Already dual core Android phones out and still crashes and lag! The best Android phone in the market today it's nexus s and it's single core but it's faster than dual core LG 2x and still a bit laggy!

incorrect many single core phones are faster than the iPhone 4... Only problem I have with apple people is they literally make things up like the this. there is almost zero lag on almost every phone with a 1ghz processor. Don't make things up.

Also to add to it you should probably know that let's say the A4 chip ran on the iPhone 4 does is less powerful than the Hummingbird. every chip an iPhone or iPad has Samsung has one better, can you guess why!!! WOW YOU GOT OWNED!!!!

iphone does not lag. android does. every android phone i've ever seen or touched has some kind of lag. i have a samsung fascinate and an iphone 3g - the android lags and hiccups, the iphone doesn't.

I never said once that iOS lags!!! First I haven't had this problem with my DX well at least not noticeable, but i have had force closes and freezes. Second in many reviews I have seen the pros even on this site that says runs perfectly smooth. third where in my post do i say android doesn't lag? so your probably lying. Claiming you have an android device doesn't get me sorry kid. It is a fact that the hummingbird is a better chip now you can do the research on your own. DONT LIE YOU DONT HAVE AN ANDROID DEVICE!

I haven't had any problems, and your argument gets weaker especial since I own a DX and have had very little lag and nothing worth bitching about. cnet and engadget have all claimed that the samsung Galaxy S phones run great. I suggest you talk to samsung immediately about this problem you might have a defected UNIT!!! Your trying to pretend like you own an Android device so stop its just annoying.

If Apple wants to remain the king of smartphones, they need to think outside the box!! something theyve never done before. they know that 4" screens are whats hot these days and there are phones that can compete with the i-phone and for the first time in years and have the OS to compliment as well. If Apple looks at the postings from sites like this, they need to get with the program and make the design of the phone bigger therefore making other phone companies (Samsung, HTC, LG, etc) keep up with them. The i-phones design hasnt changed since introduction and thats getting old!!

You probly dont even know what "retina"means .. Its more than 300 Dpi , so largest diplay could be 3,8 , 4´wont be retina with this resolution .

It depends on what they do with the resolution. If they keep the same DPI (326) but add pixels (going from, 960x640 to 1100x660), it will still be the same "retina display" but 3.9-4".

indeed but this new retina display may(MAY as in POSSIBLE) come at a cost... whats going to be the price to oay? could be anything from how apps take on the new screen+ resolution to how efficient it could be... but coming from apple we always have to wait and see how things come out... we might see a surprise

me one of ppl who do not like iPhone for few reasons. But actualy there is no alternative in market! You think android? No its not a real alternative. It have lots of phoblem, and its UGLY, bouth hardware and software( havent seen a single nice lookign androind phone since its beggining).
So once next iPhone comes out, it have a chanse to get in mine hands, unless i buy some overgrown PDA (the ones you call tablets these days, like xoom, playbook and ipad...), or other manifactuer make some good device (device value fit the price)...

This one(Iphone 12G) is going to be the first iphone with removable memory but only for specialized 2 gb apple memory sticks and when that comes out apple will be on the IPHONE23G this polished t3rd will support Flash Lite ahahahaha.

apple was doing good jobs for several years, and now those guys stuck middle of silly problems. They was highly inspired by every person in the world cause they think different. I hope they never do anything like iphone 4g and bring out iphone 5 to wash away every problem and mistake done by iphone 4g and earn it respect again in future.
