Android 5.0 update available to Samsung Galaxy S5 in Malaysia via Samsung Kies 3
Malaysian Samsung Galaxy S5 users are celebrating the New Year by having their phone updated to Android 5.0. The update is not yet available OTA, so if you want to update your Galaxy S5 in the country, it means plugging the phone into your PC and using Samsung Kies 3. If you need to load the latest version of Kies onto your computer, click on the sourcelink.

Before you go ahead and update your Samsung Galaxy S5, make sure to leave at least 3GB of free space available. At the same time, you should have the battery on your handset fully charged. Before beginning the updating process, it would behoove you to back up all of the data on your phone.

According to Samsung, apps opened for the first time after the update may be sluggish "due to the initial optimization process required with the Android 5.0 OS." Additionally, some apps installed on your Galaxy S5 might need to be updated from the Google Play Store or Samsung Galaxy App Store in order to be optimized with the latest build of Android. And after the update, the amount of system memory on your Galaxy S5 will decline by at least 950MB.

We have some pictures of the Samsung Galaxy S5 after the Lollipop update. You can take a gander at them by clicking on the slideshow below.

Thats all great and all but can you install your apps on your SD card? Nooo, and 10 GB isn't nearly enough to put a couple of big games on the phone.

No. I think what that means is it is going to be trimmed down by practically a gig freeing you more user memory. I got the latest European Lollipop build on my S5 and it says it's using 4.2GB system memory.

I commend Samsung for delivering swift updates to its flagships. They have finally learned.

Nope. Since lenovo bought Motorola, updates are not as swift as they used to. Is amazing the difference a year makes and a name change. My first Motorola device and my least.

>Moto X '14 gets Lollipop before most Nexus devices.
>Moto G '14 and '13 also get Lollipop in less than a month.
>"not as swift updates"

Maybe Android users should sue Samsung and Google for reducing the available memory like Apple user's are currently doing. I know... It's not the same thing. The Note 4 that I'm currently on, might be my last Android phone.

Android users aren't as low as isheep... so we won't waste our time sueing... ain't nobody got time for that....
The beauty of android is customization, don't Like the things OEM offers then we install our own rom... simple as that..

You comment show that you hate Android. Why did you even bother with it. Use iPhone, WP8 or whatever else you fancy. Make the right choice and be happy with it.

To me Android is the best thing that happened to IT sector in the recent years. More memory efficient than Windows Desktop with about the same level flexibility and customisation.

Guys help! Since the last upgrade, my phone provider icon (e.g.02, giffgaff) appears on the top left when my mobile is locked and it blocks me from seeing any other notification icons coming up (e.g. email icon, whatsapp icon)! I have to unlock it to be able to see them. This is so annoying.
Any ideas? Thanks
