iPhone 4 for AT&T to be sold at Fry's Electronics
Do you have your mind set on getting an iPhone 4? Well, Fry's Electronics will be yet another place where you will be able to pick one up. That is what an anonymous tipster just kindly shared with us along with a screen grab of the retailer's internal database.

We are being told that the AT&T version of iPhone 4 is expected to make it to the retailer's shelves at some point in the near future, and a quick look at the photo below shows that buyers will have the choice to get it either unlocked or with a 2-year contract. In case if you are wondering, there will be both black and white models of the smartphone as well.

What is interesting about the screenshot of the store's database is that the iPhone 4 sold with a contract is listed with a zero dollars price tag. However, this sounds like a bit too good of a deal to be true so we suppose that the smartphone's price has yet to be determined. Stay tuned as we will keep you updated as soon as we hear any further details.

Thanks, anonymous tipster!

I've been working at Fry's for over 2 years now. Us getting the iPhone has been a LOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNG process. I had given up on us ever getting it. Usually when it shows $0 in the POS (Point of Sale), it just means that a prices hasn't been set in the system yet. It said the same thing for the HTC Thunderbolt when I looked it up before it was set for release with us. I'm very interested in what the price will be with a contract. Apple products have very little, or no profit in our store. Yet, our phones with contracts are normally $100 or more cheaper than an AT&T store.

I understand how the Fry's Electronics antiquated DOS-based POS (Point Of Sale) system can seem confusing to some, so here's an explanation of what you are looking at: *The first two lines are the "Activation PLUs" (that's a Product Look Up number for non-retail peoples). These act as triggers for the activation discount. The price is set at $0.00 so that this can be added to an invoice without charging the customer. *The next lines are the iPhone as described. Currently the computer system lets us sell the iPhone WITHOUT CONTRACT. This is NOT the same as UNLOCKED. Pricing for the iPhone is currently as follows: 16Gb Black or White = $199.99 NEW or UPGRADE, $399.99 EARLY UPGRADE 32Gb Black or White = $299.99 NEW or UPGRADE, $599.99 EARLY UPGRADE Please note that this is the same pricing you get at AT&T, since Apple has very strict controls on pricing. As far as arrival dates, there is still nothing scheduled for individual stores. We expect it soon, but but have no idea when. As a side note, that picture is a few days old. The Fry's POS no longer has the first two lines, in favor of a more generic titling for the activation discount PLUs.
