Virgin aquires Helio for $39M
It appeared only a matter of time, and today Virgin has agreed to purchase Helio from parent companies SK Telecom and Earthlink for $39M in stock options. The purchase is expected to close in the third quarter of this year, and the Helio brand will be phased out. The good news is that Virgin intends to incproprate Helio's technological advantages and content offerings, which means theres a good chance we'll be seeing the Ocean 2 and other cutting edge devices in the coming future.
