Verizon's $50 unlimited pre-paid service is now Unleashed on the public

Verizon's $50 unlimited pre-paid service is now Unleashed on the public
Why, is was just the other day when we brought to your attention, photographs of some handsets hanging around Best Buy in a blister package. The name on the packaging said Verizon Unleashed which we told you would be Big Red's $50 unlimited pre-paid service. Today, Verizon has officially,uh, unleashed the service which is now available.

The new Verizon Unleashed web page confirms the pricing that we passed along in our earlier story. The pre-paid plan will cost you $50 a month for unlimited talk, text and data. But before you stop and ask yourself why you are locked into a higher rate for 2 years with your contract, the phones that are available for Verizon Unleashed are not exactly the smartphones that you might be used to owning.

Right now, three featurephones can be purchased for the service.  The LG Accolade ($40), Pantech Caper ($80) and the LG Cosmos ($100) are the three handsets currently available for the pre-paid offering. The Verizon Unleashed $50 monthly service includes unlimited texts to Canada and Mexico. Just to give you a 'heads-up', the fine print on the web site reveals that the Mobile Web available on the service is not 'full web browsing'.

PPL you need to read and we all know how VZW is. Great service, but will take anything away from you...I.E. the every-2. If you can check your email, txt all day and make's pretty good. can we have, but if you want that, u drop 30 a month on Data.

This would be a great deal if you could you just bring your own device any cell. But instead you have to buy those basic phones from 10 years ago.

those are not even feature phones there basic, no point to get it unless you want to pay about 30 for unlmt. calling 10 for unlmt. Texting, and 10 for WAP ONLY browsing which really sucks.

It's 50 for the entire plan. You are talking about the data plans, which was $10 for 25 MB and $30 for unlimited data. And this is mobile web which is not the same as web on your iPhone or droid. Read next time.

Posts: 88; Member since: May 11, 2010 much are you currently paying for unlimited voice ALONE on your current plan? I'm just confused as to why you're complaining. Do you even have Verizon service? What part of no contract, $50/month for unlimited voice, text(to canada and mexico as well?!) and MOBILE, not full, web don't you get?

I would, but I just signed another 2yr with Sprint and they don't offer this plan on smartphones.

Really? So why is it that these big cororations can get away with advertising somehing as having "UNLIMITED" when it is actually restricted in some way or manner? Of course I am talking about the UNLIMITED mobile web.

All it is saying is its not full internet like on your computer. Its the crap internet you get on these types of phones. Know something before you post. Bye.
