The new BLU Selfie smartphone comes with a 13MP front-facing camera, $249 unlocked price tag
Over the past couple of years, front-facing cameras on smartphones have started getting more and more attention as the selfie trend skyrocketed. Customers want to be able to take better selfies with their smartphones, and with this being a consumer's market, the manufacturers complied. Called the "Selfie", the new smartphone from BLU tries to take advantage of this modern-age trend.

The main attraction of the BLU Selfie is its 13MP front-facing camera, one that also comes with an LED flash. On the back, there's another 13MP camera, also paired with an LED flash. In other words, the BLU Selfie should take photos of comparable quality independent of which camera you're using.

The BLU Selfie comes with 4.7-inch display running at a resolution of 720 by 1280 pixels, plus a layer of Gorilla Glass 3 for protection against scratches and cracks. Under the hood, the handset comes with specs such as a 1.7 GHz Octa-Core MediaTek MT6592 processor paired with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot that accepts cards of up to 64GB in size, as well as a 2300mAh battery. On the software side, the BLU Selfie runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, and we wouldn't count on the handset being updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop, or any other Android version for that matter.

The BLU Selfie lacks LTE compatibility, and can be used in the US with AT&T, Cricket Wireless, T-Mobile and MetroPCS. The smartphone will run fine on AT&T and Cricket's HSPA+ networks, but T-Mobile and MetroPCS customers will be able to use the HSPA+ connection only in cities where the 4G 1900Mhz band is present.

You can buy the BLU Selfie unlocked in one of three color options (Black, Blue, or White Gold) for $249.99 from Amazon.
