Sony Xperia Z3 scores 37,000 on AnTuTu benchmark site?

The unannounced Sony D6653 took a visit to the AnTuTu benchmark site, and scored a rather lofty 37,169. The interesting thing is that the Sony D6653 could be the Sony Xperia Z3. That would be the next flagship model for the manufacturer. Sony says it has committed itself to pushing out a new flagship handset every 6 months.

It feels like it was just yesterday when the Sony Xperia Z2 was introduced at MWC 2014. But on August 24th, it will be six months since the device was introduced. Pictures of  both the Sony Xperia Z3 and Sony Xperia Z3 Compact leaked around the end of last month, along with rumored specs for the latter. And the "About" screen for boththe Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact leaked last week.

The information from one of those "About" pages shows that the Sony D6653 is indeed the Sony Xperia Z3. If the leak is legitimate, that would mean that Sony's next flagship is responsible for that AnTuTu score above 37,000. The Sony D6653 features Android 4.4.4 with a quad-core Snapdragon 801 MSM8974AC processor under the hood. Unfortunately, some of the pertinent information from the About screen was redacted. As we discussed late last month, there is speculation that Sony is holding back on using the Snapdragon 805 or Snapdragon 810 until the Sony Xperia Z4 is due to hit the market.

A launch of the Sony Xperia Z3 could take place late next month, or in September.

Thanks for the tip!
