Sony Xperia XZ officially goes on sale for $699.99

Sony's new Xperia XZ flagship is now officially available to purchase. The device, which went up for pre-order last month, gets an aluminum build and a strong set of internal features. If you're looking to join the ranks of the early adopters, you can snag the XZ on Amazon in either Black or Silver for $699.99.

As a refresher, the Xperia XZ includes a 5.2-inch 1080 x 1920 display, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 SoC and 3 GB RAM. There's a 23-megapixel main camera flanked by a 13-megapixel shooter for selfies, 32 gigs of expandable storage and a 2900 mAh battery to keep the lights on.

While the Xperia XZ does have its advantages as we outlined in our review, the price tag will be a deal-breaker for many. A number of Sony's competing Snapdragon 820-powered handsets like the Samsung Galaxy S7 and HTC 10 have been around for a while now, and as such, are much cheaper.

Still, devotees and fans of Sony's archetypal design might think differently, and if you'd like to grab the Xperia XZ, please hit the source link below. At the time of writing, stocks seem to be depleting rapidly, with only 6 and 19 units remaining of the Silver and Black variants respectively. As such, move quickly if you don't want to miss out.

Only 700 dollars for the same thing that every other company is churning out. Lol

Also I think it's funny that when I swyped in "Sony" into the Google keyboard "Don't" came up as an autocorrect.

Aye, Doakie... Sony also seems to be walking down the plank, the other being Microsoft who is selling a Snapdragon 210 for a hefty $200... Lets take a quick glance at its assets, shall we? FHD Display ("Just" 423 PPI, still better than iPhone 7's sub 400 though), average looks, just 3Gigs of sweet stuff and a ridiculous price tag... The optics seems quite promising at 23MP and 13MP and knowing Sony, will likely yield an impressive result but still... It seems like a pretty decent Phone... But 700 Yankee Bucks? I don't know, lads! Sony's name might be well recognized in home appliances industry, but in the highly competitive 'Droid World, one have to make some serious waves and splashes to get noticed... Otherwise you'll slip right under the radar... Take Note 7s for example, exploding everywhere to get to the headlines! ;-) Oh well... G'Day!

Having had the Z3 and used the Z3+ (or whatever the name was) the camera is always hyped up and then they produce mediocre results. Especially when the flash or SA mode is involved. So they can be very iffy

Your blu is using Gorilla Glass 3, doesn't record in 4k, has a s**tty GPU, microSD up to 64 GB, Bluetooth 4.0 and how's the battery life ?

Dude, the HTC 10 is still overpriced at $550. The Axon 7($399), OnePlus 3($399), and Honor 8($499) whoop the 10's butt in bang for the buck.

Of course those phones are a better bargain but htc 10 is still a better phone.

Not true, each of those phones takes the advantages that the 10 is known for (sound, build quality, screen, performance, software experience, etc.) and trumps it. The Axon whips it in screen, sound, and at least matches it's build. The OnePlus subjectively matches the build, but kills it in performance and has clean software (I personally like it's photos samples across the Web better than the 10's). Not sure about the Honor 8, but it's still performance rivals the 10. All of these, mind you, at a much lower price.

Congratulations, you just combined three phones to match one. forgot one thing though. Updates!!!!!!!! Which the HTC blows those three out of the water. 1+ has such a bad track record at updating their devices it's stupifying. They have 4 f'ing hard is it to get updates out to 4 phones!?

True. Since HTC started guaranteeing 2 years of updates for Flagship phones, they seem to have followed through well enough.

As much as I love the Axon 7, but I ll pay the extra 150 and get myself the excellent 10. It's one of the most underrated smartphones for 2016.

OnePlus 3's camera is not impressive and storage is not expendable Honor 8 has a crappy GPU for a supposed bang for the buck flagship , overhyped but no go dual camera system , no 4K Video , Crap 1080p video , EMUI is worse than $HIT , No proper Dev Support bec of Kirin SOCs , crap battery despite the 1080p display and 14 nm Soc .

Clearly you are one of those "Americans" you're talking about, you know, those who knows nothing about screens, cameras, etc...

DOA, and a shame because I like Sony. The more successful companies, the better for the consumer.

Always funny to see the hate Sony gets on American websites and youtube channels. Most of them have probably never seen an Xperia device in real live and they have only watched negative reviews like PA's review, so I can understand it. It's funny though, as lots of European reviewers (like Btekt and Recombu) and Asian reviewers really liked the XZ (and Z5 before it) and rated it very high. They are also very well received by the general public overhere. It even sold out in 45 mins in Taiwan: It's also priced lower than the competition (S7 edge) + it comes with a €200 Sony extra bass heapdhone on pre-order. That's not a bad deal if you ask me. But it's Sony's own fault that they don't sell in the US: they're not paying for reviews (not as much as other brands) and they are are not even trying without a fingerprint scanner (c'mon Sony..) and a high price tag.

Phone reviewers are the one buying up the phone.
