Sony Korea CEO sees launch of Sony i1 Honami in Korea by the end of the year

Sony Korea CEO sees launch of Sony i1 Honami in Korea by the end of the year
A published report out of Korea on Monday cites the CEO of Sony Korea, Kenji Sakai, as saying that the successor to the Sony Xperia Z will be out in Korea by the end of this year. The phone that the Sony executive is talking about is supposed to be the Sony i1 Honami, which features a  20-megapixel f/2.0 camera. As we just told you earlier Monday, the sensor on the Nokia Lumia 1020 will still be larger than the one on the Sony model.

Because Sony Mobile Korea is now totally part of Sony Korea, there is no separate mobile division in the country. That means that the Sony i1 Honami will be available only through carriers in the country. It is supposed to be the first of a whole new line of cameraphones for the Japanese OEM. The Honami will battle against the just released Nokia Lumia 1020 and the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom.

While the phone isn't expected to be available until the end of the year, we should be able to get a good look at it in September during the IFA 2013 show in Berlin. Sony has a press event scheduled for September 4th at which time we could see the phone revealed.
