Samsung's Android Go device could launch in the US as the J2 Dash & J2 Pure

Just last week, Samsung filed two trademark applications in the US for the “Galaxy J2 Dash” and “Galaxy J2 Pure” names. Presumably, these will be used to distinguish different carrier versions of the Galaxy J2 Core, even if the devices are identical. However, as Samsung has not used the Dash or Pure branding before, it’s unclear which carriers will offer the entry-level smartphone.

For those unaware, the Galaxy J2 Core ships with a small 5-inch display that is backed up by Samsung’s own Exynos 7570, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage which is expandable via microSD cards. The device also ships with an 8-megapixel rear camera and a front-facing 5-megapixel sensor. Furthermore, a small 2,600mAh battery can be found alongside Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition) straight out of the box.

Samsung still hasn’t confirmed a US release for the J2 Core so, naturally, the release date remains up in the air. But, with the holiday season just around the corner, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the company release the device towards the beginning of December. After all, it could prove popular with people looking for a budget device – a retail price of around $90 is to be expected.
