Samsung details all new features coming with the Nougat update for Galaxy S7 edge
We already detailed some of the major new features that the Android 7.0 Nougat beta update will bring to your Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, if you manage to install it via the Galaxy Beta Program app in the Galaxy Apps catalog, but we have something even better to share with you now.

Coming straight from Samsung's Customer Consultant Guide slides, there are apparently no less than twenty new features and visuals that will be introduced with the Nougat software for your Galaxy S7 edge. Some of these, like the App shortcuts for default Samsung apps, or the multi-window mode, are inherent for Android 7, but many others belong to Samsung's new UX, and we aren't talking about the different iconography in the settings menu, or the notification shade background changes.

There is, for example, the ability to change the native screen resolution when you don't need all that granular detail, which would ease the work of the GPU, thus eventually have positive effect on battery life. The messaging app now allows you to classify texts by threads and contacts, and there are plenty of other changes coming with Nougat, which you can preview in the slides below.

Ability to change screen resolution is a welcomed addition, as it comes in handy when gaming, as it'll 1080p is the sweet spot for that. Not to mention the gain of alot of framerates when set at 720p when gaming!

Damn, that's a lot of positive changes. Touchwiz needs a lot of changes, and I think they are going in the right direction. Now just remove the redundant crap which runs in the background and drains the battery. My S6 used to drain battery really fast in standby due to processes running in the background.

Try to disable them. I disabled all clouds and using Solid Explorer with clouds on, Gmail, Chrome, Hangout, Photos and all Samsung services which I don't using it (Memo, Print Service, Briefing, Svoice, Samsung Gear). Don't forget about the hungry Facebook. Tweaking Developer Option with animation off and Force GPU rendering will be a plus. I'm very pleased in how S7Edge is working.

Force GPU rendering consumes more power in my experience.

I've watched some beta videos on YouTube, and this is gonna be a massive update. Samsung isn't kidding around, they're moving forward and I'm on board. I can't wait for this update, bring on 2017.

I've been using the beta as my daily driver and all I can say is this is the update to you want! It gives you a lot of control over what you can adjust to get the best performance out of your phone. If you had a note 7 then you'll be right at home with this update. With the specs of the SD 35 the S8/Note 8 are going to be absolute monsters when they release!
