Samsung Galaxy Alpha to come with a free Gear Fit at Vodafone?

Samsung announced its Galaxy Alpha just a couple of days ago, saying that the handset would be available to buy starting the first half of September. It looks like Vodafone will be offering a little gift bundled with the new smartphone - at least in Germany.

According to Caschys Blog, all Vodafone Germany stores will offer free Gear Fit wearables to Galaxy Alpha buyers, while supplies last. That’s a nice deal, though the suggested retail price of the Alpha in Germany isn’t too attractive: €649 - higher than the price of an unlocked Galaxy S5 (around €530).

The Alpha is not your regular Galaxy, as Samsung used metal to manufacture its frame, side rim, and home key. The handset’s thinness (6.7 mm) contributes to its premium look. Feature-wise, the Galaxy Alpha offers a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display with 720 x 1280 pixels, LTE Cat. 6, fingerprint scanner, a 12 MP rear camera, octa-core Exynos 5430 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal memory, and a 1860 mAh battery. The new smartphone has five color versions: Charcoal Black, Dazzling White, Sleek Silver, Scuba Blue, and Frosted Gold.

Apart from being released in Europe next month, the Galaxy Alpha should also be available in the US - though we don’t have official details on this yet.

Here's a very simple advice to all readers. Don't look at official retail price of any Samsung mobile. They are always too expensive. If you purchase any Samsung phone 2 months after it's release you will get it for 30-50% less than what's mentioned in official retail price communication. Everyone knows it, or should know it by now..

You really don't get it, do you? Let me put it in layman's term; when Samsung or some other vendors puts such thing for pre-order, you know for sure the price they mention is not the real street price. Here they list S5 as around $850, but the actual street price is around $600-620. Not black market, but actual prices in various stores.

Not sure I get the idea here. Sale for more, include watch, specs not quite on par with cheaper S5? I'd probably choose the S5.

True. I probably wouldn't lose my Note 3 I have for either of these.

Let's assume that it's finally a "challenge" to the iPhone - both in "premiumness" and in specs. :P

If you pay the full retail price purchasing Sammy's, you did something terribly wrong.

Funny how Samsung doesn't mention that it includes a special A5 Cortex chip that is always on / always listening. I'd rather not have a smartphone than have something listening and recording me all the time.
