Rumor: second-gen Microsoft Surface RT tablet to cost $299 or less
That a new batch of Surface tablets by Microsoft are one the way is something we already know. What we've also heard about is that a model with a small screen – around 7 inches in diagonal, is also coming soon. But could that smaller Surface tablet cost as low as $250? Well, that's possible indeed, if this recent rumors is to be trusted.

According to DigiTimes, the second generation Microsoft Surface RT will retail for a price between $249 and $299. If true, that would be a significant price difference as the first-gen slate launched at $500 for the most basic model. Manufactured by Pegatron Technology, Microsoft's tablet will have an 8-inch display and a processor made by NVIDIA, most likely a Tegra 4 SoC.

Of course, those are only rumors being thrown back and forth on the web, so take what you just read with a pinch of salt. All will be revealed once the new Microsoft Surface tablets are official – most likely in June, with the launch of the Windows Blue software update
