Poll results: iPhone 7 Plus telephoto lens — awesome feature or gimmick?

The iPhone 7 Plus' dual-lens camera sure looks impressive on the outside, but when one digs through the camera features of the phablet, they will find that the telephoto lens isn't really used all that often. To break it down, it's either used when the user activates the new Portrait mode or when they zoom in to 2x and beyond. But the latter will only activate the telephoto lens if your scene is pretty lit. Any hint of darkness and the iPhone will choose to use its regular camera.

So, that means it has some limited use. It looks and feels awesome, no doubt about that, but you really have to be a shutterbug to be able to use it to its full potential often. So, is it enough to cause you to upgrade to the iPhone 7 Plus or to pick the Plus over the more compact iPhone 7? We thought we'd ask you! Here's how the votes tallied up:

What do you think of the 7 Plus' secondary camera?

Pft, gimmick.
It's neat, but at the end of the day - it won't be used that much.
It's awesome and a main reason I'd love to have / already have the iP7+!

The reason to get the plus variant is the 1080p screen( 768p is shameful) and the battery life. I don't think many cared about telephoto lens to begin with. The people who care about it already have real telephoto lens with over 200 mm focal length.

Hey are you the same Lannister that used to be there last year and moved out of PA?

Yes indeed

Welcome back then! I believe u r from India, considering your up times :) BTW, PA is a much worse place than it was ever before. People with knowledge vs Trolls/Fanboys percentage is now lower than ever and has hit the nadir. The website has also become more of an Apple sponsored website. Overall, this isn't a good place right now.

PA, you should already know majority of your readers are Android fanboys. Conducting polls related to Apple products here is like conducting a presidential election poll at a Trump rally. You already know what the result will be.

These polls aren't accurate. A lot of people here vote against apple.

Yes. No one android has such technology level, that is why so many people dislike it after huge butthurt.

That's funny.

That's not what he said... it's very obvious that the polls on PA are always android vs Apple no matter what the selection items are. I bet even if they had: 1. iPhone turns into a robot and cleans your house. (or) 2. Android has a new emoji ...people here will still vote for android.

My point is that regardless of the poll people on this site are anti Apple and will vote negatively. Not saying apple is best

So I guess we shouldn't consider iPhone users who have the phone, which on this site is slot, and them saying it's a gimmicky useless feature and voted as such, should be counted? This site is not mostly Android users. Even the writers are Apple fanboys. Apple gets more press than all Android OEMs combined. Apple fans are the oh fans, that when something doesn't go their way, they scream that people just don't like Apple. Yet when Samsu g had the Note 7 issue, 95% of the comments were all.of them. But as usual when it's bad news about Apple, they all disappear. Even with Samsung's issue, I was still posting. I could care less how you feel about my choice, just don't lie and exaggerate facts to make you seem better when you arent. The telephoto lens doesn't have have OIS. It's amounts to being nothing but a 2X magnifying glass thatvtajes crappy photos in low light. I bet it will be much better on the S8. As it has been since the Galaxy S4. Face it. The iPhone camera is 2nd beat overall stand the Galaxy is top dog. If Apple fans were actually smart, they would avoid debates that stand no chance of winning.

I'm an android user so I refrained from polling but if I do, I'd love the tele lens more than the wide angle on the V20 that I'm going to buy. Sadly both secondary cameras have tiny sensor size limiting their usefulness, hopefully, the next time round, they're improved.

Which would basically match the world, so what's the issue?

The "world" as you put it isn't shoving it down are throat every chance they get because we use different products. In fact, I guarantee the majority of people have no clue what OS they are running, and probably don't care either. Not here......it's a goddamn badge of honor. Sad....I know, but I get it. Bashing the non-majority is an essential forum tactic to combat insecurity. However, I just want to read one Apple article without some half dead dumbass calling me a convoluted name because I'm not "an Android enthusiast" whatever the hell that is.

Kiki, this is exactly how it is in PA when your an iPhone fan. They think that we actually live in some bubble and have no clue of all the shortcomings of android. They only point to pros on android and only cons in Apple to make their arguments specially techie, techies other accounts, trojuna-horse, and so many others. They still praise note 7 for its accomplishments while it crashed and burned under said accomplishments. It's like "well Samsung shoved a bigger battery in same space as iPhone", yeah, but it explodes probably for that damn reason. Everything has a balance - iPhone is just balanced better for me and hundreds of millions of people!!!!

"They only point out to pros on Android and only cons in Apple to make their aeguments"... FALSE. I point out both pros and cons, and I'm aware of the shortcommings of both OSes. Sick of your dimwitted comments which aren't backed-up by any proof. Did you run away when I proved your dimwitted logic to be dumb in this article: http://www.phonearena.com/news/Analyst-says-the-Average-Selling-Price-ASP-of-the-iPhone-hit-606-during-the-last-quarter_id86876/comments/page/2 Post #34 in response to #33. You're exactly the same as the "Android fans" you're talking of, but in Apple's side.

30. AlikMalix unregistered

Wow, this is the fourth time I'm explaining to you: I didn't runaway, just tired of repeating the same damn thing so you would understand. You said that iPhone is no way or form best bang for your buck - well I beg to differ because I buy devices that give me best experience NOT what specs are written on the box. So the best "bang for my buck" is the iPhone. When you try to contradict that with some lame fanboy arguments "android does more than iPhone" BS, I come back that android does NOT do everything what iPhone does - specially things I need. Anyone that frequents these sites are full aware what each phone/platform offered - but some still choose iPhones because they deliver better experience or feature set than android for that individual. Bang for your buck is completely subjective - so the only explanation for your stupid rants to counter someones iPhone preference is simply saying "you're wrong, and im right - you should get android because it works for me better". Your posts on iPhones have always been super negative with half truth and lies. I don't "run away from your rants" - i simply get tired of explaining the same thing over and over. If you want answers to your post 34 and 33 look at what I said right above that!!!

Because you twit, a product having a pro lems, doesn't change what's good aboutnit. IPhone have problems all the time. Always update problems, crashing apps, cameras that take sh*try pictures and it's stoll.held up high. Cars have issues all the time, even the top selling models. You have it in your tiny marble of a brainthat a product having an issue, somehow tames away from whats good about it. I still have my Note 7. It had an issue. So!? So did my brand new BMW, I don't think any less of it. If you like the iPhone, like it and stop acting like it's better than every thing on the market because it's not.

Then go somewhere else. It's really kind of simple, and a little bit easier than whining.

I still don't see your point. The world is about 80% Android, and less than 20% iPhone. Why should the make up here be any different? Ask for any abuse you claim to suffer, you're not forced to come here.
