Poll results: The Samsung Galaxy S6 might not be water resistant - would that be a deal breaker for you?

We still don't know for sure if the Galaxy S6 will be water resistant or not. However, all the leaked details that showed up until now suggest that, unlike last year's Galaxy S5 (seen above), Samsung's next flagship smartphone won't be protected against water and splashes. With that in mind, earlier this week we ran a poll asking you if you'd consider the lack of water resistance a deal breaker - assuming you plan to buy a Galaxy S6 when this becomes available.

1382 voters (57.46%) said that they'd want to get a Galaxy S6 anyway, even if the handset won't be water resistant. To them, although this may be a nice feature, it's not that important. On the opposite side, 1023 voters (42.54%) seem to think that the lack of protection against water would be a deal breaker.

Well, we're less than half a day away from finding out if the Galaxy S6 is, or isn't water resistant. Make sure to check back soon for all the official details on Samsung's new flagship handset.

Assuming you want to buy a Galaxy S6, would the absence of water resistance be a deal breaker for you?

In my opinion, the S6 will get some sort of water resistance treatment... maybe something similar to the S5 Mini, which allows it to have the USB port uncovered. To me this is actually an important feature, in fact yesterday my son drop a juice on my Z3c and I am glad it is water proof, I just took it to the sink and wash it off... no harm done.

Almost every phone is spill proof. I used my s4 in rain for hours and nothing happened after i let it dry. The problem is after it falls in water. Not when water falls on it.

I'll be really glad if M9 come out as a water resistant phone. This will give M9 a better weapon againts S6.

as an iphone owner ,i always admire htc for making superior looking design phones and samsung for sd card slots feature...i don't care either they feature removable battery and waterproofing but sd card was the cool feature i liked the must about android phones.in my opinion sd card is deal breaker for me

when the a feature goes away people usually say "What if...?" people asked too much: S5 --> funtionality over beauty --> consumers: it's ugleeeee, we want more design elements. (in my opinion could have just bought a good looking case, but oh well) S6 --> beauty over functionality --> consumers: where are the features????? I want ma features!!!! Nothing is perfect. I think Samsung tried really hard on their side. With that being said, I'm excited for tomorrow :D.

Really? Was S5 criticized for having removable battery, MicroSD card slot and waterproofing capabilities? S5 was criticized for its super ugly design. No one ask Samsung to remove this feature. They messed up by removing the features what Samsung fans proud for years. Believe me, Only blind Samsung fan will support this decision. Concisous Samsung fans will move to other brand that offer higher capacity battery and MicroSD card slot.

Higher capacity does not mean higher battery life. The S6 will use more efficient technology and a better battery chemical composition than the M9. The latest sAMOLED tech and 14nm finfet processor alone will save tons of battery life. The M9, unfortunately, will use the SD 810, which will kill battery life like it did on the G Flex 2.

I saw you restated my point of ugly design, what's you argument? that they should keep this trend? showering consumers with features inside an ugly design? I am not defending their decisions since people prefer different things in smartphone. As I also said, people could have just bought a case. Thought I do have to say removing SD card is a big big mistake. One M9 can do it, why not Samsung? But It's about change, in other to stay relevant, they need to change. Against Apple, do you think they will stay relevent with their olf "band-aid" design?

I wouldn't be all that surprised if it didn't have waterproofing, considering they weren't able to waterproof the note 4 either, supposedly because of the materials they used... That being said, since the S6 is supposedly a sealed device shouldn't that make it simpler (than the S5) to implement waterproofing?

It matters but for Samsung the S5 did not do so well so they had to start fresh. Not sure Samsung wants to add a port cover to a major material redesign. Their basically starting over fresh. The real question is about the non-removable battery and no SD card. This could be a major departure for any Samsung customer including myself.

I'm not entirely sure how many people will actually care if Samsung gets rid of removable batteries. Of all the people I know that use an Android phone, to my knowledge; only one of them actually swaps batteries and carries a spare around with her. I know I never have, even when on a trip. Same thing for waterproofing. It's nice, but it's more of a luxury and peace of mind thing than a true necessity. The SD cards though... that would be pretty significant if they've scrapped that, and would be fairly worrisome for anyone looking to purchase an S6. Unlike nearly every other android manufacturer Samsung actually has a decent ability to hold onto their customers and long-time users would be put off by suddenly having their SD cards rendered useless. Same reason HTC wised up and put a slot on the M8 after the M7 was criticized for not having one. There's no reason to go the Apple way and scrap SD cards, even if internal storage is inherently better.

The real poll should be about the S6 possibly not having a microSD card slot or removeable battery. These were 2 features that the Galaxy S series have had over competitors since the beginning. The fans loved to bring this up again and again. Water resistance wasn't a thing in Galaxy S series until the S5 and they had continued to outsell other phones like the Sony Xperia Z series which have had glass build, metal frame, microSD card slot and water proofing since the beginning. PA I hope to see two more polls from you.

No, but the lack of microSD and removable battery certainly are deal breakers.

Can bee useless articles/polls likes this at iPA considered as anticampaign? Tomorrow after S6 is announced you should really start to rumor iP6s cause articles here start to be really boring... I hope tomorrow's article will be: Apple watch is rumored to be as useless as every other smart watch currently on the market. Would it be a deal breaker for you?

The deal breaker for me is the 2600 mAh battery capacity. I will stick with S5 for a while.

Waterproofi it's not a deal braker for me.. Lack of apps and games, probably lagy software, slow updates, ugly looks, mediocre services and lack of IOS are a deal braker for me. Let's only hope The lack of those features won't be a deal braker for the customers aswell.. Otherwise the gs6 will have the same fate with the Note 4.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 will become more Popular than the Galaxy S6,with the offer of removable battery and micro sd card slot, plus waterproof,Just can"t wait to see Samsung reaction when they Realise there Project-Zero as been a Bad Choice, after All there Previous Samsung phones have offered the micro Sd card Slots and now to lose them on Future phones, loads will look elsewhere so the memory cards with there Images and Music on them can be used on a different Smartphone

Not a deal breaker. If one wants the S6 to be water proof or at least water resistent, I'm sure case makers like Otterbox will make a case that protects it from water.

I can tell you that out of the 5 galaxy s5's I tested, none of them were water resisitent. The microphones blow out every time they are dunked in water.
