Only 30 people line up for iPhone 8 at the Sydney Apple Store

Traditionally, the launch of the latest new iPhone models has hundreds of people lined up in front of the Sydney Apple Store. While the ability to pre-order the handsets online has resulted in smaller gatherings in Sydney, today's launch of the Apple iPhone 8 and Apple iPhone 8 Plus has resulted in a new all-time low. Only 30 people made up the small line that was patiently waiting outside the store, hoping for the doors to open.

While the line might have been shorter, the passion and desire of those waiting was just the same as seen in previous years. Take Mazen Kourouche. He happened to head up the line after waiting for 11 days in front of the Sydney Apple Store.

With the addition this year of the tenth anniversary model, the Apple iPhone X (pronounced 'Ten'), consumers are sitting back, waiting to check out the premium model to see if that is the one they want to buy. Pre-orders for the iPhone X begin on October 27th with the launch taking place on November 3rd. However, with production of the premium model rumored to be not starting until next month, availability is going to be tight for the iPhone X, which should still see heavy demand despite the $999 price for the 64GB version.

The iPhone X has a larger 5.8-inch OLED screen, and features the new facial recognition system called Face ID. It comes with an edge-to-edge display and offers 2 hours more battery life than the iPhone 7.
