Nokia CEO mentions Qualcomm as a potential partner for future phones
Nokia's smartphones may not embody the sheer magnitude of desire that Qualcomm's Snapdragon processor has achieved as it has been heavily featured in a ton of smartphones over the last year. It's almost as if each Snapdragon powered announcement brings along a sense of urgency as people line up to get a closer look at a device that seems to have a limitless amount of speed. Nokia's own CEO, Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo made some hints during an interview with Business Week about viewing Qualcomm as a potential partner in the future. Although he declined to specifically comment if the number one phone maker in the world has a plan up its sleeves to introduce a device with Qualcomm's Snapdragon chip, he did go on to say that “Qualcomm definitely is a potential partner going forward. The companies did fight a long time in court, and now we see them as a potential partner.” It's still anyone's guess as to what Nokia's next high-end smartphone will turn up to be or if it'll indeed be powered by Snapdragon. As there is plenty of interest surrounding phones powered by Snapdragon, Nokia will really need to get rolling if they intend on keeping up with the rising interest in other platforms powered by the fast chip.
