New 4K Apple TV with Dolby Vision and HDR10 support listed in HomePod code
Thanks, leaked HomePod firmware, for all the scoops you have given us so far, but can you give us more? Sure, said the HomePod code, and spat out a few more nuggets, this time about an upcoming Apple TV upgrade. The firmware code references not only the long-awaited 4K definition output by Apple's "hockey puck" TV dongle, but also support for the trendy HDR10, and even Dolby Vision wide color standards, if you happen to be in possession of such a UHD TV.

The iPhone 8, and perhaps the other two upcoming iPhones, were listed by the firmware to record 60FPS 4K video with both the rear and front cameras, so, if that materializes, the Apple TV will be able to relay those to the biggest screen in the house in full bloom. Moreover, with the reports that Apple is planning to create original shows to take on the Netflix, HBO, Hulu and Amazon Primes of this world, the Apple TV may be an important distribution channel, now with 4K and HDR support to boot.
