4K Apple TV with Dolby Vision and HDR10 support may be in the cards for Apple
Thanks, leaked HomePod firmware, for all the scoops you have given us so far, but can you give us more? Sure, said the HomePod code, and spat out a few more nuggets, this time about an upcoming Apple TV upgrade. The firmware code references not only the long-awaited 4K definition output by Apple's "hockey puck" TV dongle, but also support for the trendy HDR10, and even Dolby Vision wide color standards, if you happen to be in possession of such a UHD TV.

The iPhone 8, and perhaps the other two upcoming iPhones, were listed by the firmware to record 60FPS 4K video with both the rear and front cameras, so, if that materializes, the Apple TV will be able to relay those to the biggest screen in the house in full bloom. Moreover, with the reports that Apple is planning to create original shows to take on the Netflix, HBO, Hulu and Amazon Primes of this world, the Apple TV may be an important distribution channel, now with 4K and HDR support to boot.

umm... Chromecast Ultra has been supporting 4K for how long now?!?! I swear, the people at Apple are smoking some good stuff... how the hell did they forget about AppleTV? lmao. Apple is constantly in the dark, and seems to always be behind the times in one way or another.. XD

The iSheep are the ones smoking something and gulping the kool-aid. Everyone I know who has an Apple TV and bought an Android box has never gone back.

The Apple TV is just getting 4K? What an "innovative" company! Even the cheapest Android box has had 4K for a while. But of course Apple's version and it's implementation will be far superior to anything on the market.

It is found in the codes to support "HDR" 4K video recording, so I assume the display will support it too.
