Motorola invests in Fuel Cell Developer

Motorola has announced that Motorola Ventures (its equity investment branch) is investing in Tekion, Inc – a North American company, which is working on a micro fuel cell power source for mobile devices. The new product, called Formira™ Power Pack , is a small unit that combines a Formira fuel cell and conventional lithium-ion rechargeable battery. The fuel cell will provide the energy required to recharge the battery and the battery itself will provide the power. The Formira™ Power Pack, which will enable users to have more reliable and extended power supply than the current fuel cell solutions, is expected to be launched by the year 2007.
