More than 800,000 Galaxy Note 8 units pre-ordered in South Korea

The Galaxy Note 8 seems to be defying all expectations. According to The Korea Herald, South Korean consumers are absolutely loving the 6.3-inch phablet, as more than 800,000 units have been reserved since pre-orders went live on September 7th.

For comparison, its ill-fated predecessor, the Galaxy Note 7, needed 13 days to achieve the much smaller number of 380,000 pre-orders. What's even more impressive is that the achievements of the Note 8 are really close to those of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ which broke all mobile sales records in the East Asian country earlier this year.

Last but not least, the premium phablet is achieving this despite its hefty price tag of above 1 million won ($960), which is considered a psychological barrier in the Korean market, much like the $1,000 mark in the USA.

According to Samsung, the base 64GB version currently accounts for 65% of the sales, while the more expensive 256GB edition holds 35%. The most popular color option is Midnight Black, followed by Deepsea Blue.

The Galaxy Note 8 will officially hit the shelves on September 21st in the East Asian country, almost a week later than its North American release

Well deserved

not well deserved at least not in the US. Look at how Samsung is screwing over their loyal pre-order customers and fans (mostly previous Note 7 owners) in the US in this long thread at Samsung's own website.

iPhone 8 must have surpassed that amount by now (after few hours of opening preorders)

well, a single Note 8 unit has more S-Pens than the entire amount of Iphone 8 units.

Most normal people won't spend over a thousand on a phone nor is everyone patient enough for 'muh holiday shopping seasons'.

Been using mine for about a week and a half now and it's the best phone I've ever used. That 6gb of ram does wonders for the note with all its software. The screen is vibrant and the camera is crazy nice! Good job Samsung... Good job.

I second that, brah. Note 8 so badass. The display is incredibly easy to see even under bright sunlight!

With just the Pre-Sales alone in South Korea for the 256GB Samsung Galaxy Note 8 so far, that's very Well. So, WHY are ALL of the US Carriers "AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, & Verizon" NOT Requesting that Samsung bring ALL 3 Versions "64GB, 128GB, & 256GB" to the US?!!!!!!!! A LOT of the US Carriers Customers would Like to be able to Choose from the 3 Different Storage Options of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 instead of just having 1 to Choose from. So, to ALL of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Customers here in the United States that Want the 128GB or the 256GB Version to be another Option to Choose from, Contact Your Carriers as well as Samsung and Make a Statement about the Lack of Choices to Choose from for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Comment Here about this and Share This on Your Social Media as well as to ALL of Your Friends and Family.

As my boys at Apple insiders says":Furthermore, a smartphone is only as good as its ecosystem and the fragmented-by-manufacturer Android “ecosystem” is an unfunny joke. For example, Samsung’s phones, when they don’t explode like their washing machines, are, at best, a collection of off-the-shelf parts, inferior mobile processors, and an off-the-rack operating system best known for fragmentation, insecurity, and privacy-trampling user tracking/data vacuuming from an online banner ad company that masquerades as a search engine. Anyone who regards a South Korean dishwasher maker’s latest iPhone knockoff as “the best phone ever” is a painfully myopic moron"...........LOL

Just because you can't afford a Note 8, you don't have to hate so much. We all know you live in your mom's basement.
