Microsoft releases short videos showing features of the Surface 3 tablet

The Microsoft Surface 3 offers what Microsoft calls "the full Windows experience," which is a shot at its own Windows RT. The latter has presumably been taken out back at Redmond, shot and buried. With the after-glow of the Microsoft Surface Pro 3's success still lighting up the endorphins of Microsoft's engineers that worked on the enterprise-centric device, the company hopes that this time it can make a popular consumer oriented slate.

Five videos were released by Microsoft today, featuring things like the Surface Pen. The latter allows you to convert handwriting to text, highlight documents and PDFs, and more. It's a handy tool for Surface 3 users to have. Another one of the short clips shows you how the three-position kickstand helps you get the screen at just the right angle for your viewing pleasure.

Microsoft is offering the Surface 3 from its online store for as low as $499 for the Wi-Fi only model with 64GB of native storage and 2GB of RAM. For $100 more, you can double the storage and double the RAM.

Before you buy, you might want to check out the videos which you can view by clicking on the video slideshow below.

I remember when Microsoft bashed the Macbook Air and the iPad Air and convinced me to buy a Surface Pro 3. Well, no thank you, Microsoft.

well whether Apple likes it or not , iO.S is locked down and can never repalce a laptop , atleast until we get a file manager , multi-window and full apps with extended capability, with surface you can replace a laptop , heck you can manage a iPad/iPhone wth iTunes on it. LOl! irony. yes it's underpowered but Windows is a lot lighter now can run on practically anything. Did you know you can run photoshop pretty well on atom chips nowadays , atleast light amounts of photoshop and much superior enterprise and productivity software not to mention steam games. it's all about not locking down the O.S, hopefully Apple takes notice with iO.S 9 casue windows 10 will be even better.

Is not meant to replace a laptop. If you want a laptop, you purchase one. Tablets were solely meant to be a consumption device, not a productivity one. I'm pretty sure the $499, is NOT for the pro.

I own a Surface Pro 3 128 gig, and having either owned or extensively used different versions of iPads and Macbook's, I can honestly say that they do not compare to the Surface in terms of functionality and power. I have literally replaced my laptop with the Surface Pro 3.

I like that they did those factual side by side comparisons, it really helps in getting the message across to people that just buy based on branding. For example, the people you'll find crying about Surface price yet would still proudly buy a MacBook AND toyPad, both of which offer less for more cash. Eitherway, I replaced my Laptop with a Surface Pro the moment it was available. ARM tablets are only a sub-part of my Laptop (consumption) with little enhancement, the Surface Pro on the other hand, it is my Laptop, Tablet, AND Digitizer Drawing Board in 1 package with zero compromises, priced just $130 over a similar spec Laptop-only PC.

Meanwhile Mac has: Spore Asssassins Creed 2 And more other games that would make your head go BOOM.

remember the price is a lot higher than 499 though , cause you need the keyboard, otherwise this product isnt useful.

Surface Pro 3 has the advantage of being more portable than a laptop. Add to that the fact that it is just as powerful as some laptops, and you can see why some have chosen it over a laptop.

11. gaming64 unregistered

It's all subjective. Some people would choose this, some would not. And I wouldn't because my laptop can still perform more tasks than this heap. My laptop uses an nVidia GeForce 820 and I'm not throwing that away.

Agreed. It is all subjective. But portability is a big deal to prospective buyers, I could see them choosing the Surface over a laptop.

These are all joke attempts of advertising the capabilities of the Surface. Microsoft needs to fire their ad department and hire this user: https://youtu.be/aEb573aGQpA

Horrible aesthetics and no visible change across generations. Fail

Horrible judgement and failure to notice that other phone companies have that situation like that as well is an EPIC FAIL. BTW, Microsoft can hire you and you can make a new design if you can.
