Microsoft offers critical update for Windows Phone 8.1 Preview for Developers program
If you are a member of the Windows Phone 8.1 Preview for Developers program, you should have an update waiting for you to download and install. Microsoft calls it a "Critical Update" because it is necessary for it to test its update systems. The entire process will take no longer than five to ten minutes, and will install software version 8.10.14192.280 on your phone.

If you're in the Windows Phone Preview for Developers program, you should go to Settings > Phone Update > Check for Update to see if you can coax the update out of the server. The Preview for Developers program gives members the ability to see Windows Phone OS updates before they are sent out to the public. For developers, this gives them the opportunity to make sure that their apps run smoothly on a new build of Windows Phone.

In other words, despite the name of the update, this appears to be nothing more than some bug fixes. Still, it seems like something that Microsoft had to take care of so that it could make sure that its update system is working properly.

Roll out more updates PLEASE. Either that or new models... I loved the new life my Lumia got after the update. It just needs to reach more models (Nokia and non-Nokia alike.)

I have a Lumia 1020 for over a year now, never had these issues that you are describing. Is your battery empty when it switches off? If yes than i think an app is causing a battery drain. Had it once when i installed something it caused a drain after 30 minutes. But after a reboot it was fine.

My battery is never flat, that's the issue, can be fully charged or in about 21 % but it never been empty. I should mention that when it is switched off and have done it by itself, the only way to switch it on is not by power button (it wont work), it is by volume down, power and camera button pushed together for few seconds. Any ideas ?

Master reset, and do NOT do a recovery during the wizard setup. If that fails, you probably have a physical mem/cpu error

Yes, I get that problem all the time. Only when the 1020 is in sleep mode, never during the operation of the device itself. We're not the only ones with this problem. Seems to be a problem with quite a few people. Some have suggested that it might have something to do with the graphics drivers and/or the Glance screen.
