Message notification bug found on HTC One X; HTC says software fix is coming
A small number of HTC One X units are suffering from a message notifications bug which forces the user to open up the messaging application in order to see if there are any new messages. The bug prevents the status bar from showing that a message has been received and also does not allow a badge to show up on the messaging icon on the home screen to alert the phone's user to a message.

Although the problem comes and goes and is not constant, it forces users to open their messaging app if they want to read and return messages in a timely fashion. HTC is aware of the problem and is said to be working on a fix. Although an exact date of the launch of a fix is not known, it is expected to roll out ASAP. And in case you were wondering, yes, the AT&T variant of the model is also affected.

Any HTC One X users out there afflicted with this bug? Let us know by dropping us a comment in the box below!

It was unfortunate that the global version that PA reviewed had lots of bugs. For example: The battery performance of the One X PA received was really bad, however, the battery performance is now way better after HTC release the fix for the battery performance bug fix. There's still a lot of fixes need to be done to the One X, but once the fixes are all in place, the review on PA really wouldn't matter anymore. It's just a little disappointing that a flagship device will have so much bugs at the point of release, it's a good thing that HTC is fast at recognizing and providing fixes.

HTC is doing well. As soon as they hear of a bug on their flagship, they start working on a update that will fix it. I think they'll have a good year and make up for 2011

Wish that was true, that would make life of Xdadeveloper team's life a bit easier. HTC is well known for taking their time to fix any issues with their handsets. Message bug was present in previous HTC models across few platforms.

Which is actually very good. HTC One X is the first real top notch offering from HTC. They should take care of it since it's the front face of the One series.

Yeah mine has that problem. Most of time I would hear the notification sound , but sometime I don't. Kind of annoying. Also I found out that my One X doesn't show AT&T on the top bar. It will appear for about a half of second after I unlock the phone then goes away.

You are right, I'm getting to like it not seeing AT&T on the top bar now. But I'm sure it'll be back once the phone gets an update.

my one x is getting super frustrating!!! it won't let me open messages it just says loading for ages... so instead i always have to compose the messages, but i can never see what the other person wrote! instead they come up like 5 hours later in the inbox... i think i'll have to restore it but it makes it really hard to find how to do it!
