While we are waiting for Sony's event at the IFA expo in a short while, nobody could say for sure if the
Xperia Z5 would indeed make a cameo so soon after the
Z4/
Z3+ release. Actually, we've been getting tangential leaks and benchmarks about not one, but three handsets that might be unveiled today. A leaked interview with a Sony rep even claimed there will be a Z5 Premium with a 4K display among them, along with a Z5 with 1080p display, and a
Z5 Compact with a 4.6" 720p panel.
That's all fine and dandy, but all that we had so far is not a direct proof of the Z5 Premium existence, and that's the one we are most interested in. Until today, when a poster snapped in a carrier shop confirms Sony's upcoming trio of flagships, along with their naming schemes. The Z5 Premium is featured prominently here, and indeed seems the largest of the three, so we can't wait to hear Sony uttering the words 4K about its screen from the stage in about two hours or so.
It is also expected that we will have Snapdragon 810 on the trio, 3 GB of RAM (4 GB on the Prime), and Sony would outfit the three phones with a 20 MP+ camera with 0.1s autofocus, f/1.8 aperture, and phase detection autofocus, indicating the newest IMX230 sensor from Sony will be present. Stay tuned.
